Hey i was wondering if i could get a list to either one of these armies because i would like to start one in the near future. also reasons on why which army is better than the other (i want to see everyone's opinion and will tally the votes. winner is the army i get to make because i cant decide) thank you and give your best reason for painting AND battling. (list of 1500 points)

To be honest the two armies do not have the same kind as game tactics :
- Blood Angel is a CC focus army whose codex is quite old unfortunately and as CC is not great in 6th is probably a bit behind in current meta.
- Grey Knight is a mostly short/medium range firepower army whose codex is much more recent (but not OP anymore).

In terms of painting/look, that is up to you i guess, BA have some very nice figures with Sanguinary, DC and so on while Grey Knight have quite some variety with the inquisition

BA can't even really be considered a CC army anymore. They are better off trying to shoot. Or spam fliers.

ok that has helped, so i might as well should wait until the new WD then might choose grey knights. if you could please make me a list as to what will work best in battles worth 1500 points

I want to start by saying i am a BA player. All you have to do is look at the basic troops to see that GK are ridiculously undercosted. 90pts for a 5 man BA tac squad with 5 bolters. For 10 points more you get 5 power weponed grey knight psykers whose guns are better against certain opponents. The BA super characters cant join units so get shot to pieces whilst the GK super characters can hide in units. GK can also upgrade half their guns to +1s (thinking st7 rending assault cannon here) for a measly amount of points. Ah i hear you say - but the bloodangels have a flamestorm cannon mounted on a fast tank - wooooooo... oh hang on GK have uber psychic flamers tgroughout the entire army. But dont worry the blood angels discovered an STC with the blueprints for the amazing stormraven... oh wait the GK just used their psycic might to nick the design... sigh.

I agree that GK is probably more competitive then BA.
However on your last point i disagree, GK is really not a power codex anymore.
Tau, Necron and Eldar are likely much more powerfull dexes at the moment.
That is not to say that GK are bad, far from it, but the days when they were totally OP are behind us (and that is good).

If you want to play GK, you should proxy models first because they are quite a few different choices :
- Draigowing : You take Draigo and multiple paladins so you need mainly to buy him and 3-4 terminator boxes.
- Crowewing : not as efficient anymore, the idea is to spam purifiers and psycanon. You need to buy Crowe and at least 20-25 GK in PA.
- Inquisitor henchmen : If you take Coteaz you can have henchmen as troops, so you can take a 4-6 henchmen bands (usually in razorbacks/chimera)
- Classic list : Here you do not use special caracters (or not fully) and you take a mix of PA, sometimes TA GK.
In all those kind of lists you will take some support in the form of Dreadnoughts, Dreadknights, maybe a Stormraven or such.

Finally i dont think GK are undercosted, its just that GW gets pointcost decrease on new codexes so people need to buy more for the same game point value.... so BA and old codexes are overcosted compared to more recent ones.

Lets say you can give a normal tactical marine a power weapon. Everywhere in the BA codex (even when not on characters) it costs 15pts. Say an extra 3 points a model for the extra special rules (being generous) and a blood angel tac squad equipped and with the same rules as GK costs a BA player 180pts. Almost double! I agree that BA are over costed but if GK are not undercosted then that makes BA brokenly overcosted.

Let me ask a question.
If you could take for 5 pts a Power weapon on your tactical BA squads, would you pay it?

And you forget what BA have that GK do not (some long range firepower).

I agree that BA is underpowered/overcosted compared to GK, no issue on this.

Next look at GK compared to TAU/Eldar and have some fun

Blood Angel is one of the oldest codex at the moment, so there is no need to convince me it is weak.

Maybe not on tacs but definitely on assault squads! Actually pretty much on every squad but tacs and scouts. Not every model i mean - about 30/50%... need some meat shields lol! Then again, thinking on it probably might try it out on tacs - say 3 or 4 in a unit. I definitely would for 2pts a model which is what it costs GK. I do see your point about the long range though (although i tend not to take any but sniper rifles and side sponsoons for my flamestorm baals now and again.).
And youre point about Eldar... bugger me but their serpents are stupidly broken! There is NOTHING in my dex apart from ravens that can deal with them if spammed. And by the time the ravens have shown up its already too late.

BA are brokenly over costed. Look at what Eldar and Tau pay for their heavy firepower.

Sad part is, IG, Ork, C:SM, Space Wolves and Dark Eldar are all older than BA and all better.

Yeah but then you take what is best from each.
If you HAD to take them, for everyone in the squad, then its not as good (no meat shield).

so your basic tac marine is 16 pts, ours is 20pts so a 4pts difference.
Of course they get a lot for it, but some is not always usefull and we still pay for it.

Its not just Eldar, have you played TAU recently as well??
I started again a few month ago and have yet to win a game against them.... (while i have only had a single defeat against other dexes...)

Grey knights are highly competative still 3-4 fully decked out lists and they destroy some of the top meta choices (looking at you screamerstar / seer council).

Blood angles have yet to produce a viable list in 6th the points cost combined with the somewhat lackluster units is the problem.

BTW anyone that tells you assault is dead in 6th is just doing it wrong. Gunlines are good but alot of tournoment winners have assault units or are assault oriented Deamons/Paladins/Terminators/inquisitorial henchmen/spirit council/tyranids. The secret to 6th is just to make your assault units that much tougher to weather the storm because all of the shooting units that people are saying have killed assaulting cannot stand up in a fight.

Assault isn't dead. BA assault is dead.

I agree that BA are in a pretty tight squeeze at the moment. I also agree that CC certainly isn't dead, but with BA it might be. The really good assault units are all so expensive now, you're inevitably going to have small armies. Even core units like assault marines, which are not even that great in CC, are heavily overpriced. It's all quite a shame, as BA have, in my opinion the coolest fluff in the game. Praying for a new codex, who's with me?

The only rumor I've heard is Q1 2015.

Thank you all for your replies and discussion. I am starting to go towards the GK army, but with the new release of the space marines, they might have a part in this too......So now lets direct it towards space marines and grey knights (mostly space marines because i have heard plenty of very good information of GK and am still accepting more though)
