Hello, currently I play Tau as my first army, but it does get boring to play the same army all the time so I wanted to try something new, so I chose to go with the Black Templars as a second army, but considering they're getting rolled into the codex with the Vanilla marines, I'm holding off on buying the codex, until it comes out.

I want to start buying some models so I'm ready for when it does come out so I'm curious as to which direction I should start buying models?

I have a Chapter Master, a few tactical marines, a predator, Assault termies and regular termies, how else or what else should I buy to gear my army right?

That's going to be a tough call without actually having the codex, but I would recommned at least two forms of transportation. drop pods, rhinos, land raiders.

Use the transports to get your terminators in their face. or to transport the crusader squads. Other than that, I'm not sure. I am also building a BT army and am now waiting for the new dex. I have a chaplain, chapter master, an EC, 15 initiates, 5 neophytes, 5 termies, 5 assault termies and a drop pod. But I think if I had a rhino or a land raider in there, things will go much more smoothly. footslogging is just so hard against all these shooty armies.

Its hard to go wrong by starting with some marines and some bolter scouts.

Yeah, I figured it would be hard without it, I was going to order the new one in my LGS but with the new codex being released soon I might as well wait, I figured a Land raider and drop pods would be a must, mostly just curious as to what models I should buy.

Is Helbrecht worth his points? Or is he better replaced with a Generic Marshal?

I say wait for the codex to release to know that.

With the 3 BT ICs and Helbrecht's his own special WAAAGH, the BT are going to be specialists at charging, close combat and challenges. This means they are going to be a very tricky army to play.

I think the plan is going to be massed scouts in landspeeders storms to scout maneuver as close as possible, really get right in their face. This operation meatshield will protect the regular squads as they follow in to combat.

Ive played templars for longer than I can remember. You can never go wrong with mass marines with bolt pistol and chainswords. Besides that with the new dex dropping soon I would hold off buying anything. The only thing I know you cant use is a librarian so dont even think about using one of those dirty warp bending heretics!

The Emperor extends His will to us when we destroy the wicked and impure to reconquer the galaxy in His name. The Emperor leads the galaxy to righteousness, and thus we must petition for His judgement on the wicked... for it is judgement without mercy..

First buy the codex. Yes I know, they are going to be in the SM codex, but if you want to start BT, you may want the codex for the fluff. Is it worth it to you?

From reading the fluff stories (I don't think you will get so many pages in the SM codex) you may see what you want and how to make your army.

Also I guess if you don't want to buy the codex, you can wait for the supplement when it comes out. Question is, when will it come out.

Also you can try the Bolter and Chainsword forum. They have a great selection of specific chapter forums there, and they can help you out as well.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?
