If I have a model that gives a unit a special rule (FNP), like a BA Priest or SM Apothecary, and he dies at a high initiative, do I lose FNP, or whatever other special rule he gives for lower initiative steps? Would BA no longer get furious charge at initiative 4 if the priest died at initiative 5?

Yes, if he dies at in7 step then at in 4 you will no longer have FNP or FC.

Based on the following from the BA FAQ, if the model dies at higher Init, then the bonuses are lost:
Q: At what point does a model need to be in range of a Blood
Chalice or The Red Grail in order to gain the bonuses of Furious
Charge? (p48, 49, 52)
A: When you put the bonuses to use, i.e. when the model
makes its close combat attacks.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Does this precedent apply to Tyranids? (Don't they gain FC, or Fearless, or something, from Synapse?)

They can get FC and posion from toxin sacs and adrenal glands from the tervigon, so I am guessing yes they would lose it if they pile in pass the 6 inch bubble

For any such bonuses to occur beyond the instant they're no longer in range, it would have to state when it ends instead. Most don't specify this (if not all - to memory, the only examples I can think of that are different are the Waaaagh! and Ragnar Blackmane's howl, and I'm not even sure on those).
