Hey folks, just looking for some c and c regarding this friendly list against Dark Angels. Not long been back to 40k some help is appreciated

HQ Kharn the Betrayer

HQ Chaos Lord; Bike, MoN, SoC, 2x Lightning Claw, Votlw, Blight Grenade.

Elite Helbrute; Plasma Cannon, Combi-bolter.

Troops 7x Plague Marines; 2x Plasma, 7x Votlw

Troops 9 x C:SM; 1 x Melta Gun, MoK x 9, 8 x CCW, Champ; Power Sword.

Troops 10 x C:SM; 2 x Plasma, Champ; Power Sword. Dedicated Transport; Rhino with Dirge Caster.

Troops 19 x Chaos Cultists; 9 x Autoguns.

Fast Attack 3 x Bikes; 2 x Melta, MoN x 3, Champ; Lightning Claw and Melta Bombs.

Heavy support Land Raider; Dirge Caster.

That should take me to 1499pts. My opponent has limited armour and not a lot of heavy weapons. He will no doubt be running a Librarian and Sammael with probably 5+ Ravenwing bikers. Assault marines deep-striking aswell as some Deathwing.

You might get more help if you change C:SM to CSM. The colon changes codex to chaos, so instead of luring in loyalists, you might get some of the heretical advice you disire.

I like the list. Helbrute is kind of meh. Could shave some points here and there and drop the Helbrute and grab a Heldrake.

And yea, Make it CSM not C:SM. Big difference.

Edit: On second look, the cultists are wierd. You could get a small 5 man CSM squad in if you dropped them, or use the points to make a CSM squad Plague Marines.

You know, I didn't even realise that I had stuck a colon in there -_-

My mate doesn't have any flyers so I agreed not to use my Heldrake, QQ.

I did think of having more plague marines but the plan was to have the Cultists hang back with the 7 Plague Marines, to hold/contest objectives towards the end of the game. If all goes well with the assaults at the start of the game, there shouldn't be too many of my opponents troops left. Overwhelming him with bodies if you know what I mean?

The Helbrute is pretty rubbish. I would ditch that straight away.

Unless you are playing against SM a lot, then I would ditch veterans of the long war on the Plague Marines - the extra leadership doesn't bother them as they are fearless.

Ditch the power weap on the Champion, the unit has plasma guns and is inside a Rhino so is unlikely to charge.

No Heldrakes? :(

I did say in a post that my friend has no flyers so I agreed not to use one, that's the main reason the Helbrute is in there mate.

I did state I'm fighting Dark Angels with this list, hence the Votlw on the Plague Marines, those re-rolls will be welcomed.

The csm squad in the Rhino is intended to get midfield on my first turn, disembark and then go for an objective. I should of mentioned that earlier. Do you still think I should change it?

Thanks for the feedback btw, it's greatly appreciated

Not too bad...I think I'd stay in the rhino though...

Unless you use it to wall off opponents

The problem you're having, OP, is that you don't have very much killing power. It's mostly just hope, prayers to the dark gods, and bolters.

The land raider is nice, but one isn't enough, and the MoN bikers are nice, but a single squad of 3 isn't enough, and ... that's sort of it. Kharn as not your warlord will kill your own guys, the bike lord with only lightning claws has a too-limited range of targets it's good against, while the single-special weapon CSM squads dont' have much killing power, etc. etc.

I'd lighten up your troops choices (and ditch the hellbrute) to focus more on what you have that's good, like making a bike list, or a land raider list.

Well, the list won me the game

It ended up being Purge the Alien with Hammer and Anvil deployment.

The Helbrute took out 2 Ravenwing bikers on turn 1. Then 5 Assault marines as they deep-striked on turn 2. He also survived the game.

The 3 bikers and the biker lord dispatched a squad of 10 Marines in 1 round of shooting and 2 rounds of combat. I lost 2 bikers in all.

Kharn and co. from the Land raider wiped out the 5 Deathwing the turn after they Deep-striked in too. Kharn was a good little boy and didn't kill any of my own in close combat.

Not sure how you thought it was a predominantly Khorne list? I had Kharn and MoK troops but I also had a Nurgle Lord and Plague Marines. The rest wasn't Marked.

My friend had some very unlucky rolls, he blew up my Rhino netting him 1 victory point. He didn't actually wipe out any other whole units. The cultists survived with 3 member left but they held their own with the morale checks.

Nice little win in the end with First blood and 4 victory points.
