Hey, Dakka! It's the Doctor again. This time, I've answered the clarion call of the Dark Gods, and am slowly starting to build up my Word Bearers forces. I come to you to submit a 1000 point list I hastily dreamed up, just to see what feedback I might get. I want to eventually build up to an army that is semi-fluff, semi-competitive. In my mind, it takes the shape of a foot-slogging Chaos Undivided army, with at least one mark for each god. I realize such a task is not an easy one, but I will try anyways.
So, without further ado, here's my first draft of a 1000 foot-slogger's list:

HQ
Chaos Lord w/ MoK, AoBF - 110

Troops
20x Khorne Cultists - 130

10x Marines w/ MoN, 2 plasma guns - 200

10x Marines w/ Icon of Vengeance, ML, Plasma - 195

10x Marines w/ MoS, 2 flamers, Lightning Claw, in a Rhino - 220

Heavy Support
5x Havocs w/ MoT 3x AC, LC - 140

Total: 995 pts.

Tactics: The Lord and the Cultists will run up to the enemy HQ and generally cause havoc. The Slaaneshi Marines can work in concert with the first unit as a pincer move. meanwhile, the Nurgle and Vengeance Marines will occupy objective points while the Havocs will sit back and provide covering fire.
As I said before, I am attempting to keep the list somewhat to the fluff. Otherwise, any thoughts are welcome.

My concern is that outside of some flimsy havocs and a single khorne lord, there isn't very much killing power here. It's mostly just small arms and the stray special weapon. I'd lighten up your scoring section in order to add to your killing section.
