Ohhh, that WiiU might be calling my name soon...I've been dying to play Pikmin 3.

And if you're drinkin' well, you know that you're my friend and I say "I think I'll have myself a beer"

Take it back with the receipt - You might be able to get a price match.

Or, for $40 more you can get the new Pokemon X or Y. Sounds like a great gift for a younger gamer, a Pokemon fan, someone on a budget, someone who likes pie.

Agreed. I've talked to a few owners of the 3DS, and they have the 3D function off most of the time.

Edit - Oh. After looking at it, I'd also go with the 3DS. I don't care for that "slate" design at all. I like being able to fold up my DS and sticking it in my back pocket...

The 2DS is designed for much younger gamers (like 5-7 year olds), and the more durable form is reflected in that. It can take more abuse than the standard 3DS. I wouldn't get one, but if I had a kid that age I might, and the price is fairly good for something like it. It is just a bit more than Dark Vengeance.

Already upgraded from 3DS to 3DSXL.

Can save money by simply not turning on that 3D switch.

It is also meant to have a weaker battery. Better than the 3DS, worse than the 3DSXL. Solid, but just another sideways "upgrade".

While I guess it's nice for them to provide more options to people without a 3DS it kinda seems redundant to those who do have it and worst of all it's comparable lack of portability to the 3DS seems to offside its cheaper price. I dunno, at that point may as well save the money and use it instead on games you can enjoy with your established game systems rather than a kid-oriented DS.

Parents wouldn't buy the 3DS for their kids as the hinge made it easy to break and the 3D hurt their eyes, so this is aimed for those customers (along with the lower price point for as a toy for kids).

I believe the "screens" are actually one large screen divided into two by the plastic housing. Cost-savings, I'm sure, and the reason why it doesn't fold.
