This will be my first idea for an army list, so be gentle. That said, I've been lurking on DakkaDakka for a while as research, so I have an idea of what I'm doing. I'd like this army to be something that I can later build and add onto. I don't have any of the models at the moment.

HQ: 105 pts.

Farseer
-Singing Spear

Troops 1: 110 pts.

10 Guardian Defenders
Heavy Weapon Platform with Starcannon

Troops 2: 110 pts.

10 Guardian Defenders
Heavy Weapon Platform with Starcannon

Jetbike Squad: 61 pts.

3 Windrider Jetbikes
-Shuriken Cannon

Fast Attack: 110 pts.

5 Warp Spiders
-Exarch with TL Death Spinner

Total comes to 496 points.

Overall Strategy:

The Farseer will stay back with the Guardians to provide psychic support. The jetbikes will run up the side, while the Warp Spiders will deepstrike in behind the enemy. Hopefully this will do well in small games.

Any comments or advice would be appreciated.

Executing Exarch

The Twilight Zone

Looks pretty solid. Should do good for the points level. If you dropped the exarch from the spiders, you could get a 6th spider and round out the points. I think quantity over quality is important in small games.

Another thing to consider is dropping a starcannon for a scatter laser for more dakka should you need it. You don't want to just plink a model or 2 from a horde till they are in assault, and if you need to take out light armor, again quantity over quality. The starcannon is not bad, but 2 is overkill in small games,

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

Thanks for the advice and responses.

I'll definitely take out the Exarch upgrade to add a 6th Warp Spider to make it an even 500 points.

I disagree about replacing the Starcannons. The Laser Lock rule for the Scatter Laser only applies to vehicles, and for the same range and strength, the Starcannon can take out Marines and Terminators. The Warp Spiders and shuriken weapons can provide plenty of dakka (and even more with psychic support), and Battle Focus should let me be fast enough to at least delay the onset of hordes.

Again, thanks for the comments and advice.

actaually the scatter laser isnt only vehicles. just models with mutiple weapons they can fire (i.e MCs). star cannons would be fine with this list, but scatter lasers. ur shuiken and warp spiders should be enough for ap 2-3 untis, and scatters would do better against the things that this list needs, some anti horde. really either work, but scater are better.

I second all of the thoughts here. The exarch w/ twin linked spinners is an extremely inefficient use of points. If you're set on him, get the spinneret rifle. Otherwise more bodies is the better option.
