Hey people!
To cut a long story short, I play a lot of FoW. I have a shed load of Shermans for my yanks, either from PSC or Battlefront. I've been looking at Peter Pig tanks and I was thinking of buying one or two of their Jumbos and HVSS Shermans (basically Easy Eights). Does anyone know how PP tanks scale up next to Battlefront and PSC? Are they bigger? I already feel iffy about my mixed platoons!

A couple of sites have done reviews of the various manufacturer's Shermans next to each other, like this one!:

Can't really comment on tanks, but their infantry go very well with Battlefront's, I use them a fair bit.

Ah... Hollow undercarriage is weird (assuming it applies to Shermans too). I'll probably buy them though as they seem to scale up well. Thanks folks!
I've been looking at their infantry too, as I need some gun crews etc. Good to know they blend well!

Nope, not at all. The older manufacture's, ie: Peter Pig, Skytrex and Old Glory, models are all cast from white metal, not resin or plastic. "Back in the day" that's how they were all made. To save materials (and costs) they are hollow with open bottoms.

Peter Pig have the best Infantry by a mile. Okay the shouty faces but the rest is superb.

My Modern USMC's are great. Their WWII is also good! But the AK47 Range is ace for any little project's you've got.

As Kenny says Mix and match gives you hundreds of poses and helps give your forces more Character and diversity.

On an Express Elevator to Hell!!

Thought I would put this in here, rather than start a new thread.

Has anyone tried QRF (Quick Reaction force) miniatures?

£6 for a Jagdpanzer seems very reasonable, but wanted to get some feedback before buying

With QRF I have quite a good relationship with them, but I'm not going to blow their trumpet be gushing, I'm going to be honest and open.

The vehicles vary alot, some are great, some are not so great. The Infantry is quite weak from my experience, but I have only used Post War and Modern Infantry, I haven't seen their WWII, ranges so won't comment on them. There vehicles when they get them right, are very good indeed - The Leopard 2 in 15mm is one of the best Models I have ever seen, although Khurasan have been uppingt their game with the recent M1A2.

Here is an Example - 2 x Centurion from BF = £19.99 - I bought 11 of them from QRF for £60.00.

I mix in BF Crew figures, and BF stuff, I like modelling and painting but i know it's not everyone so if you like things simple pay the difference. I prefer having large collections and BF make it expensive, anything where I can get away with a QRF subsititute, I will take it, because they all look the same when painted. :

They are pretty good, the Leopard 2 is amazing, If you are buying german Heavies like Tiger II and things like Elephants it is worth saving on them.

Word of caution, you need to be a competent modeller, they aren't snap together or easy Resin Kits, there will be flash and mouldlines and you will need to be used to working with White metal and gluing metal on metal, the tracks can be a pain in the arse. But if you get past all these you get some very nice models..Here is my Soviet Motor Rifle Company all from QRF.

I bought a few 152mm soviet guns (SAW05) from QRF, have to say i was far from impressed, they did not fit together well and needed a lot of work to make them sturdy enough for table top and to look remotely good. I have since replaced them with battlefront offerings. Will try and put up some photos tomorrow when i get back home.

I do however have a couple of King Tigers from them and quite happy with those models, the tanks seem to be better, if not a little rough round the edges.

Very nice mwnciboo, and thanks very much for the detailed post!

Think I might try out a Jagdpanther and see what their Arab-Israeli stuff is like at some point (significantly cheaper than the BF stuff that's for sure!)

I find the QRF Artillery difficult to work with too. I have used post war stuff and because the barrels are White metal they tend to be bent / damaged in the post.

That said they are the only producer of a 15mm 2S7 Pion so beggars cannot be choosers.

As I said I love modelling, so will often take an 70% / 80% solution and convert it to my needs. Obviously this isn't for everyone, but I like having unique or models that make people say "Where on Earth did you get that?"

Like my m109A3

Took the BF ones, and played around with them...Now I have a nice Battery of M109's for my US forces.
