Maybe I have missed it. Will Death from the Skies still be needed for SM players to field flyers?

Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

If they dont put it in the new codex, there will be 0 changes to SM fliers which i highly doubt will happen. GW is not a fan of changing points or stats in FAQs and i also doubt they would alter the loadout possibilities in the FAQ.

Course they could just release another DFTS book knowing them lol

The flyers will be in the book, but the pilot rules won't be, I expect.
From what I saw, there's more to DFTS than just unit profiles.

So, to answer the question, DFTS won't be needed to play them, but some people will still want it for the extras.

It's Mostly profiles, a game type, and fluff.
