So this is my first Tyranids Army list.
This is meant to be in your face quick force. Not sure if I am lacking something to work on vehicles and definitely no air cover. I also have a Carnifex (with any weapons option), Broodlord, 20 Genestealer, 20+ Termagant, 2 Warriors and Hive Tyrant not built yet.
Thanks for any input.

I myself am not a Tyranid player, but I'll provide you with feedback since no one else has. I will now proceed to address each squad individually.
Since the logical choice is to put the Prime with the warriors, I'll discuss them both here. Warriors with no upgrades will do basically nothing. In order to make them effective, you need to define their role. For warriors, this should involve melee combat even though ranged support is an option (take Hive Guard if that's what you want out of this type of unit). The question is whether or not you want to give them any ranged capability to grant them versatility. I'd personally give them that versatility in a list at this point value, so you can fill more roles in your army. Of course, the Prime should be equipped to match his squad.
The thinking I applied to your warriors can also apply to your troops, if you like. If you want something that can fill two roles at once, trade out your Hormagaunts for Termagaunts. Move, shoot, chomp.
I don't like gargoyles personally, so I'd replace them and use their points for something else. Tervigons come to mind, since they put your gaunts in Synapse range as well as being goddamn Tervigons. Take one per squad if you can.
And then there's the Doom.
...I don't know what it does. If you can justify its points in your particular list, then I see no reason to steer you away. Otherwise.
...Teeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeervigoooooooooooooooooooooooooonsssssssss...

HAHAHA... as a Nid player, you can ALWAYS justify the measely 130pts for a Doom and Pod. That thing is incarnate. "EVERY shooting phase (including opponent's) each enemy squad within 6" of DoM must take a leadership test on 3D6, and suffers a wound for each point of leadership it fails by. NO ARMOR SAVES ALLOWED" PS... this isn't a psyker power... It's an aura... so it always goes off, regardless of whether the DoM is in assault or not.
Plus, for every unsaved wound caused by DoM (in any fashion), it regains a wound (up to a total of 10). Its strength is always = the number of wounds left... so for 130pts, you get a (generally about 7-8, but up to) S10, 10W model with a 3++ that also has a psyker power that causes a SX, AP1, Large Blast in 24"... or trade for the telepathy primaris power (same as the aura, but targets a single unit and has much greater range).
The only down side to him is T4, so he gets instagibbed by S8+ weapons. When Doom hits the field, he almost invariably becomes Public Enemy #1, and laughs at most things that try to plink him to death. I've had him wipe 4 whole squads in a single shooting phase (he sucked off a total of 17 wounds over 5 squads, then 2 broke from morale checks and scampered off table). He is about the only thing in the codex guaranteed to make his points back every match, and with a pod, you avoid most (read: all but off table) scatter mishaps with the drop pod deep strike rules.

Personally, I love the Prime. I run mine with 2x swords, toxin sacs (who doesnt love re-rolling failed wounds when your S is equal or greater than their T?), and ST. AG are nice, but I feel like, as a Prime, you want things charging you so you dont get punched by overwatch.
2x horm broods are nice, but I think you might get more versatility elsewhere. maybe drop one set entirely and increase the other to 20, it frees up a couple options. I personally like having a broodlord squad infiltrating (5x stealers, broodlord, all have scything talons and toxin sacs in addition to their rending claws) which cost 160 total. then maybe drop the warriors for a zoanthrope or 2.
I might go this way with it
HQ
Prime w/ ST, 2x BS, TS 100pts
ELITE
DoM w/ spore 130
2x Zoanthrope 120 (these are supporting role, providing synapse to your horms and doling out buffs, switch one of the sets of powers for biomancy table, keep the other for anti-tank purposes)
Troops
20x hormagaunt w/ TS, AG 200
7x genestealers with broodlord ( TS, ST on all, infiltrating) 198
you wind up at 748 pts, have some versatility, can still handle rhinos, and have enough durable synapse to keep everything going well... though admittedly, dropping horms out of synapse is beneficial on the charge... giving them +1str from AG and +2atk instead of the normal +1 due to IB: Feed.
It also depends on what you will be facing. I've been trying to experiment with using no Tervigons in my lists lately, as I really don't like having only 1 viable build, so I want to see what else can work. This list doesn't have shooting outside the zoan and DoM psyker powers, but if you are looking to get right up on somebody, this will certainly do it.

And aren't gargoyles fully upgraded spammed a ridiculosly good combat unit with the parasite? A unit of 20 on the charge gets 40 st4 hits auto wounding on a 6 to hit then wounding anything on a 4+ at least and against T4 or under rerolls to wound. 3 units of 20 with the parasite makes them all fearless and you get all 60+ parasite for 640pts. Also glancing most tanks to death on the charge. Oh and if the didnt use the jump move in movement they get 20 HoW attacks to boot. Ive seen this used with devestating effect because nobody realises how sick they are until they are already munching stuff in combat.

nope, Prime is also T4... Only thing that really hurts. pairing them would be hilarious though. Never thought of it... gives the DoM attacks ID and bypassing armor, and the Prime a 3++ lol Automatically Appended Next Post: Poly Ranger wrote:And aren't gargoyles fully upgraded spammed a ridiculosly good combat unit with the parasite? Admittedly, I've never tinkered with the Parasite, but this does sound fun. I like the gargs for their HoW, and auto wound on 6 to hit, but never thought of using parasite as their flying synapse. I've used it with a dakka flyrant before though, and that was quite lulzy

Ah i thought he was T5 oh well. If he had been a couple of primes with DoM would be a pretty cheap death star! Automatically Appended Next Post: The only problem with the dakka flyrant is he cant hide in the unit. Parasite is IC right? Im not a nid player so aren't sure.

Prime is only an HQ, so you could only ever run 2. if you want the closest thing to a star from a Prime, run it with a squad of LW/ BS warriors. (all give ID, ignore armor, use the Prime's WS, BS, reduce initialtive to 1 in base2base). They still get rocked by S8 though... oh well

yeah, Parasite is an IC, but even if it wasn't, that many gargs would give it a 4+ cover save just from obscuring him
