Hello,

A friend of mine is getting back into 40k with Dark eldar. Was just wondering if I could get a review of the list as I'm not completely familiar with DEldar. Cheers guys!

With Dark Eldar as my main 40k army I think I might be qualified to take a look

First off he needs to do some trimming of pointless/over priced upgrades. For example Blast Pistols are one of the worst upgrades in the book with there measly range of 6, why, if he wanted a Dl weapons, wouldn't he simply get a blaster? Also he should trim down the Trueborn unit to either a blasterborn unit which is 4 warriors ALL with blasters in a venom with extra cannon, or a splinterborn unit which is a 3 man unit with 2 cannons in venom with 2 cannons. DE don't mix roles well, keep a unit to do what it does and do it overwhelmingly.

Im also worried about how much each of his raiders costs, 90pts fr AV 10 all round is simply too much. He should drop 1 or 2 of his upgrades, first on the list being shock prows and second being flickerfields (You have Jink). WIth extra points I would suggest swapping ravage up to a void raven or razorwing for *Some* anti air. Also put arena champs in reaver units, nothing worse then a 300pt unit running away. If he is dead set on using the Incubi (Duke would be better) then he should drop 2 incubi, you simply don't need them. The are excess points who add nothing, as the unit will be VERY dead if these make it to combat. With those points adding a Haemonculus to the unit for FnP would not be a bad idea.

Its a very different DE list to normal and I like how the reavers are doing the ravagers role, I personally think it will be the reavers that win for you.

As ALEXisAWESOME said, you need to trim points down.

Take away the blast pistols from every warrior squad along with the Venom blade. Just leave the Sybarite's with standard splinter rifles and you get one or two extra shots. With warrior squads you want them all to have the same role and purpose; killing infantry.

The raiders. Take off night shield and/or flicker fields. 9 times out of ten you're going to be shot at something that's in range. And raiders are to take you straight into the enemy's face. The upgrade won't do a great deal to help lessen the damage taken. Not to mention jink does the same job as the flicker field anyway. Shock prows don't usually come into effect either. Keep the splinter racks for warrior squads.

Personally I like to run Incubi in all of my lists. They make a great combat unit and Drazhar is a fun character to use. But the raider rules apply. Incubi are for getting all up in the enemies grill. Trying to save the raider is not worth the points.

Same point as ALEX made, trueborns are better in smaller squads. Four men = four blasters = lots of damage. Two squads in two venoms with extra cannon and the enemy has to worry about more targets doing more damage.

Ideally you would want more Anti Vehicle weaponry. Just to back up the ravager and reavers. It'll give your enemy a little something more to think about.

How typical that the humans should rely upon crude technology to protect them.
How fitting that we, the Dark Eldar should kill them where they feel safest.

Yeah the Venom Blades and Blast Pistols on the Sybarites arent gonna see any use. You dont want your Kabbies with 6" of an enemy, and you dont generally want them in CC. Keep them at range, shooting. In their Raiders for TL goodness.

Shock Prows arent too useful atm (though I only tried them a couple of times in a small list), as vehicles are rarer than in 5th.

I agree that the better option for the Trueborn is 4 man squads with Blasters in Venoms.

Also, see if you can squeeze in Cluster Caltrops on the Reavers. If you turbo boost them Turn 1 over a unit, youll do a lot of damage, and then Turn 2 youll be able to get into Melta range on targets for the heat lances.
