Ok as the title states i just acquired some eldar in a trade which is a good thing. I normally don't play competitive but this is the start of my eldar force. again not too sure on points but its a general list and again not too sure what powers to give exarchs and all that jazz so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I know I need a few more wave serpents and maybe some warp spiders to make this more deadly was trying to make an altiaoc list but not sure how to go about that my other line of thinking was Sam Hain for that i need jet bikes

So the plan, Have the Banshees counter attack what ever comes my way, dark reapers shoot them to kingdom come have the Dire Avengers and Guardians move up with the avatar and the rangers camp objective or are held in reserve for shenanigans or outflank what ever is best at the time again i know this is not the most competitive but i kinda dig it.

I think you'll do just fine with the list. You don't NEED wave serpents and warp spiders, they are just arguably the strongest units from the Codex. The only things I would specify is to give all the Reapers Starshot missiles, and upgrade one to an Exarch with Fast Shot, Nightvision, and Starshot Missiles. Then they can pull double duty as MEQ-killer and AT. I'd also give your foot-slogging Avengers a Shimmershield via the Exarch.

I personally don't like Rangers in this Codex, but they can certainly be made to be useful. I'd consider a Bright Lance or Scatter Laser on the Guardians, depending on whether you think you could use more AT or more anti-infantry, the Missile Launcher just seems a bit over-costed for what it does.

so how do you recommend me making the farseer better...if i wanted to would striking scorpions be viable in this foot list?

and on to my other question to make this an altiaoc list any suggestions there?

if i decided tot ake this to a tourney i would like to do good with it ya know but mostly i play in campaigns and stuff like that.

not really sure how you want to maike it an alitoc list...

far seer better?he seams fine. stick him with the reapers and hes good. if you want to make him invincible, get him a bike and mantle of the laughing god.

*In my opinion Farseers are soild as is, as long as you can protect him. Only way to really make him better is a jetbike although it is not needed, but it does give him mobility and MEQ tougness and save.

*Mehhh, not a big fan, if your going to use them their acrobatic ability will be better served on foot. better places for the Wave Serpent. The serpent could use Holofields at the very least

*If you end up with Illic Nightspear for an altiaoc list. Pathfinders are awesome although expensive. don't expect normal rangers to do a whole lot except hold objectives, and smaller the squad the better

*can't go wrong, if you choose to use powers I'd suggest Disarm and Shield of Grace. A Power Axe is a nice combo with those powers.

*Ditch the missle launcher, if you choose to use it swap out for something else like a BL. Here is a better spot for Wave Serpent it will allow you you put those short ranged catapults to greater effect.

*The bigger the squad the more of a target they become, I agree they all need Starshot, which will reduce your squad size and make them more of an annoyance than a priorty target.

Those are good suggestions. I like em. Like i said i have not bought the codex yet so i am unsure of the points...and the only reason i was thinking altiaoc is partly DOW Ret and the eldar series that the BL put out....(really good books imo)

could somebody give me a total of points not the break down of points spent but a grand total so i know what im working with.

but over all are is this a better list? i think it has great potential im thinking about using this list in a campaign actually.

and any suggestions on what else to add would be good again this is a fun campaign and my opponent will be using 1k sons and tzeentch daemons.

and sadly my buddy has a crappy track record when fighting me. so i would like a good fight but not beat the breaks off of him...

what about swooping hawks? i know they are not ideal but i think they would be kinda fun to use.

Just one note here. The missile launcher takes up a spot inside the wave serpent (p66 Heavy Weapons). So, 11 guardians + 1 heavy weapon + 1warlock = 13 "bodies" for 12 seats. So you won't be able to use the transport with this set up. You'll have to drop one guardian or the heavy weapon to make it work.

yes.

10 guardians + 1 heavy weapon + 1warlock = 12 "bodies" for 12 seats. Now they're all on the move to wherever you need them!

any recommendations to drop it under 1500?

and i didn't know the weapon platform took a slot in the vehicle i thought it was just there like in the old book. sees how much i pay attention cant wait to get my new book that's for sure.

so any suggestions as what should be next?

do swooping hawks get the jump ability like they did in the old book where they go back into reserve and drop pie plates?

and any suggestions to replacing the big ranger squad? i know the jet bikes are awesome and i could use them for late game objective grabs or harassment units if it was in larger numbers.

and are shining spears any good? i know in the old dex they were kinda expensive and sub par i thought they were a neat unit but i don't want stuff that's too fast to leave them hanging in the wind to get shot to pieces.

if this helps my main opponents is another eldar player and a csm/daemon player of the tzeentch variety. dont want to put a mud hole in them but want to give them a good game...
