Disclaimer: I'm not a Raven Guard player.
That said, at a fair point cost this guy could be a great combo with Shrike, making assault-squads troop choice and giving hit-and-run to the squad he joins (add Shrike for some awesome-sauce jump squad).
I could imagine a really fluffy Raven Guard army:
Dual-FOC
HEADQUARTERS:
Shrike
Korvydae
Chaplain, jump-pack, melta-bombs
FAST-ATTACK:
Vanguard Vets (x5), srgt with power-axe and melta-bombs
Stormtalon, CML
Stormtalon, CML
TROOPS:
Scouts (x5), combi-flamer, bolters, HB, cloaks (at least 1 scout squad required for Korvydae rules)
Scouts (x5), sniper rifles, ML
Assault Squad (x10), 2x flamers, power sword, melta bombs, combat-shield
Assault Squad (x10), 3x plasma pistol, power sword, melta bombs, combat-shield
HEAVY SUPPORT:
Stormraven, TLLC, TLMM
Stormraven, TLLC, TLMM
This is exactly 2000pts; I imagine that once the new codex comes out it will be a bit less (specially vanguard vets), you can then throw some upgrades in there. With the new rules (to be confirmed obviously), you'll have an army that can scout move, stays extremely mobile and a mini-deathstar that gets: stealth, hit-and-run, zealot, "double-jumpack moves", re-roll hammer of wrath wounds, and weapons to kill just about anything.
You still get decent fire support from the flyers too.
What do you guys think for a fluffy Ravenguard army? Automatically Appended Next Post: I realized afterwards that I did not include the jumpack upgrades for the vanguards, but I would imagine that the overall point reduction would pay for that cost.
What do people think about this overall Ravenguard setup? It seems pretty fluffy to me and still packs a good punch. Any fundamental flaw?
