Why no markers?

I don't think the single broadside is sufficient to deal with a raider. A riptide would be awesome at this points level and is a real Swiss Army knife.

How about something like;

Ethereal 50
2x 8 FW 144
Riptide w/HBC, VT, TL fusion 185
4 pathfinders
Broadside w/HYMP, TL SMS, missile drone 77

Pathfinders, VERY underrated.
A great support unit/distraction unit too.

The broadside is more of my only anti-tank in this list, I thought about adding a hammerhead, or maybe a fusion blaster or two. My whole army is 13 years old, I have no High yield missile pods or riptides to play with, although I agree the riptide would be amazing at this point level.

Also how are pathfinders a great support unit? They cost as much as a well equipped crisis suit, only land 2 marks lights a turn on average. Meaning I can ignore cover with a single squad, or raise a single squad to BS 5, but even then the extra crisis suit would result in more wounds, and for just 20 points I can give squad the multispectrum upgrade and they will have ignores cover. Really not worth their point cost. I feel like they are extremely over rated by newer Tau players. Some ten years ago one of the dakkanaughts math hammered out pathfinders and decided they are 20 points over costed for 4 and I still feel like they are 12 points over costed. Also without stealth they are an easy first blood.

Thinking about dropping the broadside and going for three Piranha and giving my crisis suits twin-linked or ignores cover, what do you guys think of that move?
