I'm thinking of getting an airbrush to make my life more easier, and i'm just wondering which airbrush out there is the best all round for an airbrush rookie.
What's the GW one like?

Any tips and anything useful would be awesome.

You're rich! You're flashy! You 'ave a proppa Orky stoutness about your belly! And you've got more big, shooty, and dead 'ard gear than any 2 other Orks put together. Da uvver clans orta make way for da Bad Moons!

Not the GW one - it's not really a proper airbrush.
Get the most expensive one you can afford.
Pref is a double action which is gravity fed (ie not a screw in bottle slung under the brush but one with a resevoir on top).

Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

Good video, lots fo good info. Incase anyone wondered, the point of a side feed is when you need to spray upwards or directly downwards... or any direction that would mean the airbrush isnt going to be upright and paint could spill out of the cup/bottle.

'Ain't nothing crazy about me but my brain. Right brain? Riight! No not you right brain! Right left brain? Right!... Okay then lets do this!!

you might as well buy cans of spray paint in whatever color you want

I currently have a cheapy airbrush but it gets the job done...I would recommend starting with the cheapest dual action gravity fed brush that you can find, just so that you get the basics down and know how to handle the airbrush (maintinence, use, etc) without damaging it....then go and get yourself a badger krome or one of the nicer Iwatas

Do NOT buy the GW 'airbrush'. It's the worst you could buy for quality and not the cheapest. Using it will mean you constantly consume canned pressure, which isn't constant or reliable, but is expensive.
If you want/have to go cheap, buy a $99 starter kit from Revell. That'll get you a cheap airbrush, compressor and all the intermediary bits.

My recommendation would be to buy a dual-action (paint and air triggered separately) gravity feed airbrush from a major brand like Harder & Steenbeck, Paasche, Badger, Grex or Iwata.
Bonus points for getting a non-starter, all metal (+seals) model. That will be much more durable and will last forever unless you destroy it with improper use/cleaning.
That should run you about $100-$150. Fancier models will run up to $300, but offer more extras, multiple nozzle/needle pairs and whatnot for the money.

Get yourself a compressor that can supply you with 30-40 PSI and comes with a moisture trap. Bonus points for getting one with a tank.

While it might sound like running for a long time, I really recommend watching the owner of Badger Airbrush explain in a very clear and non-promotional way everything you want to know as introduction to airbrushes.

I got my compressor & a AB-800 Double Action Airbrush - Red Ref: AB-800-RED (http://www.everythingairbrush.com/acatalog/Suction_Feed.html) airbrush from them & was very happy with the service & product.
Did this with it:

That hour/half video was actually very informative. Now i know what i need to search for for an airbrush since ive been wanting one for awhile (but living in dorms being the primary reason why i never actually got it - not enough room lol it was bad enough even without my paintbrush setup let alone with more crap on that table)

An ork with an idea tends to end with a bang.

You in the US so look at AC Moore and Micheals. They always have 40%-50% off coupons and they are good on everthing not on sale. Also if you sign up for a dick blick customer card, not a credit card, you get a a big discount off you purchase.

I would suggest to get an airbrush that way and hit up harbor frieght for a compressor. They also always have a 20% off coupon floating around.

I've got a Paasche Talon and it works well for me so far. I haven't used it much yet, though. Just used it to prime, basecoat, and seal my Night Scythe.
