Hey guys, got a quick question....
Do you think the new space marine centurions would work as obliterators (instead of chaos marines that have gotten the virus, they are suits that carry an array of weaponry). With the correct amount of chaosification i think they could work well with an iron warriors scheme.
What are your thoughts?

Lots of muscles and guns piled on would certainly do the trick, I think.

Yep, definitely and especially as Iron Warriors. They'd also make fine MANs for Orks as well.

Fluffwise, yes, I can see a centurion-suited marine falling to Chaos and then being mutated/repaired/improved into a counts-as Obliterator. Or a centurion suit might be looted off the battlefield and given to a chaos marine, with similar results.
Done right, they'd look a lot better than the standard Oblit models.
Or alternatively, i can see the IW weaponsmiths building their own centurion equivalents (still counting-as Oblits), but then they wouldn't look just like chaosified centurions, so would be a much harder modelling project.

The only problem I can see with this is the size of the suits. They're not going to fit on 40mm bases without some serious overhang, so you're probably gonna need to use the 60mm they come with. Deep striking, los, cover, etc, you're going to be at a disadvantage.
None of that means anything though next to sweet looking models.

I've been thinking the same thing myself. Though my SM and CSM army share models. I plan on magentizing all of the guns on the cents and making a gun rack with several of the guns oblits have and magnetizing that. So you will know the difference between a cent with two lascannons and an oblit with a lascannon, missile launcher, plasma gun, and melta gungun hanging under each arm (if possible).

Can't wait to Orkify those models...Ork head with a cigar, maybe a grot hanging off the side, power claw. Extra tubes and orky armor plates, these will make excellent Killa Kan-esque or Mega Armored Nobs!

Morphing Obliterator

I have been thinking about this for my Iron Warriors as well, as a big, fleshy mutated guy really doesn't suit them imo, even though the fluff says they have a closer tie to the Obliterator cult that other legions.
I think I will have to see the centurions close up before I make up my mind on whether to try this.
In the mean time, I am considering hi tech miniatures terrorizers as an alternative to GW's obliterators who all look like they are taking a dump!

Centurions look better than oblits and about the same size. I'd accept them.
