Hi guys, I had a few ideas for a Tuska house rules set for games with my friends and just wondered what you guys think of them. Any improvements or tweaks would be gratefully accepted

Tuska: 210 points.

Stats WS6 BS2 S5 T5 W3 I5 A5 Ld9 Sv 3+

Wargear: Boss Pole, Cybork Body, Power Klaw, Tuskas Armour, Deemun Killa.

Tuskas Armour: Tuska wears the usual cobbled together plates that make up what the Orks call "Eavy Armour" but with one difference, his is adorned with the horns of the 1st warp beast he ever killed. The horns have retained a modicum of warp energy that increase his armour save to 3+.

Deemun Killa: This is an Ork Choppa that has been soaked in the blood and ichor of many daemons, it is treated as a power sword that confers +1 attack (included in the profile) and the "Hatred(Daemons)" special rule to Tuska and any unit he joins. Also, Tuska can choose between this and his Power Klaw as to which he is fighting with in each round of combat.

Special Rules: Eternal Warrior, Survivors Of The Eye.

Eternal Warrior: Tuskas battle hardened, scarred frame has left him with skin nearly as tough as ceramite and he is able to withstand wounds which would easily fell any other Warboss.

Survivors Of The Eye: In addition to the normal rules for a Warboss regarding a unit of Nobz or Mega Nobz as a troop choice, one unit of Nobz can be upgraded to be Tuskas fellow "survivors of the eye" for 10 points per model, these Nobz have the "Rage" and "Counter Attack" special rules to represent the experienced warriors that they are. Also, only the strongest willed Weirdboyz survived along with Tuska in the Eye Of Terror, to represent this, any Weirdboy taken in Tuskas army that takes the Warphead upgrade can choose which Ork psychic power he wishes to use each shooting phase (with the exception of Waaagh!) and has a Leadership of 9.

I'd personally love an official Tuska model with rules, but this is just incredibly under-priced. He's a slightly less resilient and slightly more choppy Ghazghkull, but for a cheaper price.

And to top it off: Survivors Of The Eye......Holy squig on a stick....

Please don't take this the wrong way, I do not want to bash you for trying to make rules for a character I find awesome..... I'm just saying, keep working on it!

Not gold. Not plastic. Soon, Games Workshop miniatures will be forged entirely from narrative - a 5-man box costing £70, containing the highest-quality imaginary soldiers in the world. Why have miniatures? Why paint, assemble or convert when you can simply imagine your army? - Frozen Ocean

Few comments
A normal warboss with a Boss Pole ,Cybork ,Klaw ,e'avy is only 105 points and is just as killy

You are paying double the points for Eternal warrior and supper nobs and a 3+ ? He should be more around the 165 range (20 for Eternal,20 for surviors,10 for choppa,10 for better armor).
As for the rules themselves 10 points for the survivor upgrade seems bit much for something that can only be on one unit maybe 5 points would be better (10 points is 40% more expensive where as 5 is only 20%)

For him to be more inline with his 210 price tag I suggest

Ws 6 Bs 2 S5 T6 W 4 I 5 A 4 Ld 9 Sv 4++
Special Rules: Eternal Warrior, Survivors Of The Eye,Furious Charge ,Waagh

Deemkilla-+3 str ,Ap 3 (big choppa) +1 A (attack squig),Preferred Enemy(Daemons)
Tuskas Armour:,+1T, 4++, ,Rage and Counter Attack ,
Survivors Of The Eye- as is but 5pt upgrade and must take warp head upgrade for 5 pts more (90pts) and warpheads on a 4+ (still need ork randomness) can choose power

He loses his poweklaw but has a better big choppa
His armour now is +1 inv and +1 T instead of +1 sv
Surviors reworked a bit
He also gained rage and counter attack

Building a warboss using comparable upgrades out of the codex gives you a boss that is about 165 +45 special rules (priced his deemkilla as a powerklaw and armour as warbike/mega armour)

I'll take a stab at this too, could be fun to stat up all the characters from the Orks lore - Mork knows we need a few better ones;

Though he loves to fight daemons, we could also extend that to monstrous creatures in general and make him a bit more multipurpose instead of a hard counter to daemon armies
Tuska da Daemon-Killa

Points Cost: ???
WS: 5, BS: 2, S:5, T: 5, W: 3, I: 4, A: 5, Ld: 9, Sv: 4+ (5+ invuln.)

Wargear
~Daemon Rippa, Shoota, Slugga, Choppa, 'eavy armour, attack squig (included in profile), cybork body

Special Rules
Horns of the Warp Beast, Great Oath, Monster Hunter, Hatred (Daemons), Preferred Enemy (Daemons), Eternal Warrior
Horns of the Warp Beast: Tuska always keeps the trophy he won from his first ever daemon kill on his person, inspiring the boyz around him to krumpin dem spooky gits. Tuska and his unit always make their charge should the target unit contain at least one model with the daemon special rule. In addition, Tuska and his unit may assault Flying Monstrous Creatures and Chaos Helldrakes as though they were legal targets.
Daemon Rippa: Tuska's personal Power Klaw has split the blood of innumerable daemons. This is treated as a standard Power Klaw in all regards, except that it loses it's Unwieldly and Specialist Weapon special rule when facing Daemons or models with a mark of chaos.
Great Oath: Tuska lives to challenge the strongest creatures of the Warp in one on one combat.

In the assault phase, Tuska is able to challenge any model with both the Monstrous Creature and Daemon rules regardless of whether it is a character. When Tuska issues a challenge to a unit containing at least one daemon, he may nominate Weapon Skill, Strength, or Toughness and the model with the highest stat in the nominated catagory must accept or decline the challenge.

If Tuska challenges a unit of Daemons and the challenge is declined, he may issue another challenge, and another, until either somebody accepts or all legal targets for a challenge have declined. Tuska must always challenge and accept challenges when facing daemons.

I think hatred wouldnt work for orks because they dont hate anything. Tuska loves fighting demons or fighting anything in general .

With the special rules, I reckon match the effects of the rules to the fluff of the character - but the fluff of the rules don't matter

U.S.

I've always wanted to come up with rules for Tuska and you beat me to it. A few suggestions though?
Perhaps change Tuska's armor to make his 4+ armor save an invulnerable to protect against AP3+ and because you described his armor as buffed 'eavy armor.
Also, since this is the edition of RNG when it comes to psychic powers Warpheads should probably roll a d3 for their psychic power. On a 1 you can choose power 1 or 2, on a 2 power 3 or 4, and on a 3 power 5-6. However any roll of a double for the psychic test counts as 'Eadbanger. A bit more control but still a bit random.

Some great input guys, thanks. Certainly gives me some stuff to mull over. In hindsight he was definitely over priced and a bit too similar to other Ork characters. Maybe Preffered Enemy(Daemon) would be better than Hatred. It's my first try at creating a character anyway so all comments are all appreciated. It's certainly harder than I thought to build a balanced, convincing and effective character!!

Defo agree with the 4++ armour save and the 5 points for survivors upgrade (seems fair in comparison to Chaos 'zerkers) and the +1 toughness is a great idea to warrent the points cost. I think a certain amount of randomness has to be kept for the Weirdboys too, you are right.

so, erm, yeah, WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!!
