Shiny newbie goodness here. I've been scanning through these pages and have been enjoying the mini's on show. So figured I should actually contribute.

This is my custom chapter, the Son's Of Omega. Themed (only because I love the fiction) as an Alpha Legion successor (bear with me on this).

For long years after the death of his Brother, the Twin Primarch Omegon lamented the spiraling downfall of his blessed sons, the Alpha Legion.
He was convinced that a time would come when their shared vision of a reborn Imperium free from the touch of Chaos would be but a distant memory.

Too many Battle Brothers fell to the ever-roaming Inquisition. To newly birthed Astartes Chapters hungry for glory. To the petty Chaos warbands that had filled the galaxy in the wake of the Heresy. He saw disparate Alpha Legion cells become further and further trapped in their own deceit until it bordered on delusion.
Greatest of all, the depredation upon the failing Imperium appalled him. He saw it as a slur upon his fathers Utopian ideal that he had once rejected for its very improbability. He despaired through the long war.

Finally, after many years in desperation, locked in secrecy, he told his most trusted advisers of his great and final legacy. He had conceived of a brotherhood, one that would echo the principles laid down by he and his twin during the great crusade. One that would sit as far removed from the tenets of the deplorable Codex Astartes, but would instead operate to protect the Emperors lost ideal. He would breathe life into them, weaving the fate of their home world in such a way that when the Adeptus Terra sought for a new Chapter, theirs was the only option. With the plan laid out he looked forwards, knowing that centuries of subterfuge lay ahead. He knew his path would be fraught with failure, but the possibility that there could exist a Loyalist chapter that would follow a hierarchical structure similar to the original Alpha Legion's own but never know that their heritage intertwined with his own was far too tantalizing.

Not all bitterness from his long struggle could be so easily forgotten, and it was only upon the threshold of his long infiltration into the Adeptus Terra that Omegon was finally able to confess of his greatest angst.

'The Son's will bear my own seal; the Omega. For while the Alpha was taken from us, the Omega may yet prevail'.

All the DA/Ravenwing imagery was removed from the minis, as was any particularly florid Imperium-orientated gubbins. Otherwise, I figured leave the scrolls and the chapter heraldry on there.
All of this stemmed from the wife buying me the Dark Vengeance boxset and I figured lets make a go of it, a couple of Ebay purchases later and thus were these guys born. I've tried to convert better and better as I go along but I'm a fairly slow learner so stock poses abound.
Likewise with the painting. I've tried to do as much as possible with a limited paint selection (i.e. starter set) The photo's with (R) indicate the models have been reclaimed from Ebay purchases (hence poor texture).

And no, they aren't Sons of Horus

Anyway, let me know if the painted set are looking ok so far and if you have any good tips and tricks to improve anything! Thanks all, i'll get some proper pictures up with a white background someday!

Very nice! I really like the icy blue color palette on the snow covered bases - not a color scheme you see all that often on SM for whatever reason.

Whoops, think i need to take some more toned down pictures then as the army is light green, with pure snow white snow underfoot.

Snapping in the morning light means a free light-box but you cant see that the snow has contours and bumps, which is intentional but not conducive to good photography.

Here's a reclaimed dread that I based today, might give a better idea of the snow + tone.

Ah, so kind of like the pre-heresy Luna Wolves green. Still nice!

Have the 2k base done at least so I can game with some pride, for now some of my finished bods.

This all looks fantastic. You managed to really put some momentum into the models. I especially love the Whirlwind, that is a spectacular take on it.

I really like the green of the armour and the rugged look of the army. The Librarian has an interesting basing too!

Amazing! I especially love the Master of the Forge on his bike, looks great!

Glad to see these guys get more love! New minis look great.

Love the Sons of Horus-esq look to these guys, the sea green is really hard to pull off but it's nice to see it done well ^_^
