Subject: The Scarab Prince Corsairs: A Kabal Hell Bent On The Fall Of Vect
|
 |
Twisted Trueborn with Blaster
|
The Scarab Prince Corsairs
984.M37: In the demon infested wastes of Shaa-dom, a young and determined noble, Cyrax K'oviac of the house Serenus, bands together a force of survivors. After a week of desperate warfare and searching, they come across a webway gate that appears unguarded. The gate's navigational devices suffered interference due to the presence of warp entities. Lost in the webway, they are confronted with the very real possibility of an eternity spent in the many dark corridors of the veil.
985.M37: A number of Kabalites belonging to the Kabal of the Black Heart are found dead at two locations within weapon factories. Each corpse has it's face disfigured in the mocking smile of the laughing god. Many weapons of both splinter and dark light functions are stolen, no trace of the intruders are found, much to Vect's anger and distaste. These assaults happen sporadically over the space of three (Terra) years with little or no retaliation.
987.M37: Over a hundred dark eldar clad in bone armour, deploy through means of webway travel onto the bridge of the Black Heart ship "Eternal Agony". Through the use of clone field technology and phantasm grenades, they gain control of the ship. After the initial assault, reinforcements arrive through webway portals in the form of harlequins. Blood is shed and the ship is stolen right under the nose of the Kabalite fleet.
213.M38: The Scarab Prince Corsairs emerge into the Nhexite Ship maw, a shipping lane often used by imperial traders as a short cut in southern space and through severe and sudden force, take control of the area. The destruction of several imperial outposts silences the safety of the Maw.
Present: The Corsairs are currently at war with a vast ork infestation on the planet Backdraw. Cyrax still maintains control of his kabalite fleet and his hatred for Vect still burns bright. Rumours have it that he has regular contact with Lady Malys of the Poisoned Tongue and the Duke Sliscus and plans for the assassination of Adsrubael are already circulating. Some that have heard him speak have reported that he speaks with several voices at once, whether this is madness, a result of the thousands of souls he has consumed over the millions of years he has been alive or that he is a vessel of Cegorach may never be revealed. One thing is known though, should the eye of Cyrax fall on you, you best be prepared to face a nightmare.
Welcome to my P&M blog. I hope you enjoy this thread as much as I do. Some of the thread may be made wrong by the timeline and fluff added above, so be aware that presented above is the final draft of the story behind the army and the army list to reflect the Prince's raiding force in warhammer 40, 000 can be found on page four. Thank you!

Thanks guys, just realized I didn't give a description of the colour scheme, the kabalites have a bone coloured armour with blue shoulder pads, gems and other details.
The splinter rifles and other metal bits are a purplish metal that I think reflects the alien, noxious nature of the weapons...

Try putting it on the dakka galary first, then post the picture here again. I dunno,...I can directly post pics from my computer on my blog and they show. So I never had that problem. Awaiting your pictures eagerly, yet patiently

A close up shot of Seth. Sorry that it is a bit blurry. Will have to muck around with the macro settings on my camera. Enjoy.

Really nice work. How are you going to paint the bases?
By the way the red writing at the top is really hard to read. I couldn't be bothered reading your fluff because of it so you might want to change it if you want people to read it...

I voted for "Oceanic style", I think that or a ship deck would complement the pallet you're using really nicely! I love the scheme, my only thought is that perhaps the skin color is too close to the armor color on the helmetless model.

The skin isn't too close in person. I was a bit gutted that the picture shows it as being almost exactly the same. The picture also doesn't show the tattoo above an below his eye either, that I spent a while getting right!
I am wondering now how I would do the ship deck. Suggestions are welcome!

Ship deck would be awesome. Depends.
A Sci Fi ship deck:
- make a greenstuff mold and cut little reverse L rivets into it, then for each base...
- cover in thin layer of greenstuff
- press into lubricated mold
- trim edges
A marine ship deck:
- thin layer of greenstuff
- press knife deep into it | | | | | etc for decking planks
- use knife tip or lightly press knife into it ||||||| to get wood grain
Love the scheme, by the way. Light coloured DEldar look excellent! I wasn't sure how well that would turn out.

They are dark in nature, they don't need to wear black and say "BLAH" hahaha
I thought the light scheme would look great on mass. Can't wait to finish the unit and assemble a raider for them. Kill team anyone? This is the first army I've enjoyed making so I plan to do a unit at a time
and just go with it.
thanks for the suggestions in regards to making bases. It's constructive and will give me a good start!

Who knows, you could carry the woodgrain pattern onto the hull of your raiders, so they look like wooden ships.
Maybe replace the Aethersails with masts and square-sails, and do them up with rigging. Oh, and an eldar skull and crossbones. You can't be a true pirate eldar without one.
In all seriousness though, this scheme is going to look amazing on the raiders.

My votes on the oceanic style. That will blend in nicely with your light colored armour.

I'm thinking of an oceanic/eldar looking tile to the base. Green stuff raised in circular designs, just a fraction off the base in places.
Rigging... Now that sounds awesome. I'm planning the top half of the raider will be the bone colour with the armour plating at the bottom being blue.
Nautical is cool. May even have to change the name of the kabal...
As for an eldar jolly roger, thats awesome, thinking a skull with a bandanna over its nose and mouth in a gangster pirate-ish way with crossed daggers?

The next installment of tasty fluff stuff...
An alliance built on bloodshed and plunder:
The Nhexite Ship Maw is a narrow area in the southwest of imperial space, a corridor between asteroid formations often used as a short cut between imperial trade routs. While the risks of damage to star craft is one thing, the reputation it has gathered as being a place to lose a ship all together is a fable often talked about at many a rogue trader's table. The reward often outweighs the risk and many take the chance to brave the passage in order to knock vital time off the shipping logs. Many an aristocrat or government official will pay dearly to have their goods delivered through this method.
"Never dare you brave the Maw, the spiders nest there and they will soon have you in their web son!" Pyros Tochan, Pilot of the "Lady's Grace"
"If the teeth scare you, then you have a lot to learn, darkness gathers there, dreams and nightmares of stolen men manifest within her mouth!" Victor Landcaster, Navigator of "Golden Tribute"
The truth of the matter is that a pirate fleet of Dark Eldar control the passage, portals pass and shift in the location depending on the movement of the asteroid clusters. Any particularly decent load carried by over confident and cocky traders is theirs to the taking. While hit and run tactics maintain a steady flow of stolen goods into the clutches of the Scarab Prince Corsairs, every so often the Sky Serpents will intercept a large host of ships with the Corsairs. Of course the deal usually goes 70/30 with the Duke taking the majority, however the small Kabal still takes a considerable amount of goods and slaves back through the portals to Commorragh. A way to wealth the Duke is not welcome to. Were it not for these portal lanes being maintained and the knowledge of the passage the Sky Serpents would be without this prey. Another reason why the Prince is left to his own devices.

Really enjoying reading your fluff.
Coolminiornot had a tutorial to using their water effects. When you said marine tiles, that's what I thought about. Basically, using rocks, with Vallejo Atlantic Blue gel capped with their foam to make it look like waves are crashing up against them.
Kind of like...

Buy it from Maelstrom. Seriously, I get everything from them. It's half the cost and ships in two to three weeks usually. I've only had one problem with them sending the wrong thing and I've spent about $2000 with them. They fixed it right up though. Beats trying to find a hobby store in NZ that stocks them.
(Not an ad, though the amount of people I recommend them to, I should get a commission.)
I only wish I had a colour scheme that would let me do that ocean thing.
(Though you might need to find a hobby store that sells cork for the rocks, or you could just find a bunch of flat rocks.)

I voted for the sand bases. I think you could do a lot of desert/mirage stuff with that color scheme. Some nice sand stone rocks or interesting rock formations. Also, dune could be a source of inspiration to that end, or the star wars desert ships.

When I was painting them I couldn't get out of my head the idea of a desert raiding party and the barge in star wars. (Not sure what film, never been much of a fan)
However, as the Kabal are mostly space born I guess any ground or planet style will work. I do have desert style basing stuff here from my last army... Hmmmm.
