Hey all,
In a Necron army, is it feasible to take Immortals instead of Warriors?? or is it always a good idea to take warriors just in case.
I'm thinking about Necrons and I would probably take only Immortals, no warriors. For some reason I just don't like warriors...
Thanks,

I dont see any reason why not. I suppose it depends on how you play/build your army.
The thing to bear in mind if the increase in price of immortals. But they can also put out a lot more fire-power. Based on my playing of them, I feel the tesla carbines are the better option.
I think lots of people take small scoring units of Warriors in Nightscythes as they are cheap and can be dropped of to claim objectives late game. Im not sure if Immortals are effective if used this way, might be a waste.

That might depend on the list you play.
I have often played games with nothing but Tesla-Immortals as my troop-choice.

Bare in mind if you run pure immortals you probably have either less troops or less big toys. The price increase is nothing to ignore

From my facing against the necrons, I mch rather my opponent to pack warriors over immortals.
Immortals are harder to kill, and far more deadly. warriors can be cleaned by pouring basic gun on them.

Immortals cost more points per model but have a better armor save and better guns.
What it boils down to is that both types of troop are effective at what they're designed for - Warriors do great in large blobs with a res orb at putting out a ton of s4 fire power and/or glancing vehicles to death, while being hard to wipe out (outside of cc). Immortals do good advancing through cover, putting off tons of tesla shots for anti-infantry, or deploying out of night scythes and using gauss blasters.
If you want to focus your army around immortals I say go for it - but i'd still take a unit of 5 warriors, hold them in reserve, and walk them onto a home objective when they arrive (or if you want, put them in a night scythe and disembark them on turn 5 on an objective). It's a cheap tax (65 pts + a sweet flyer) for a very potential game-winning unit.

Been out of the game for awhile, trying to find time to get back into it. |

This has been brought up so many times, and through mathhammer it's been found that immortals and warriors are pretty much perfectly balanced to each other. It really all depends on your army.

This^, it's fewer better troops vs. more lesser troops. Entirely up to how you want to run your army.
That being said I always take immortals over warriors and it works well for me.

Thanks guys for all the replies
It has boiled down to this for me: Immortals can do everything warriors can (Gauss blasters), are slightly more flexible (Tesla) and are more durable but will cost just a bit more.
I think I will stick with my plan, but I will have the odd squad of warriors hanging around.
Thanks again for the advice

Personally, I run majority Timmys. Two squads of 10 Timmys, with two 5 man warriors squads in a Scythe each. I will also stick a Stormtek in with at least one of the warrior squads to (very effectively) harass enemy armor in the backfield if need be. The Timmys are great at sticking on the board, and at killing enemy infantry. Always run Tesla, because it is better at killing MEQ and at distance shooting. Gauss kills vehicles with no thought to how strong either the armor or the gun is, so use cheaper, more plentiful warriors to attack tough vehicle targets.

The worst part about 40k is that my models don't hug me back. |

I'm doing the warriors w/ghost ark and res orb thing now and I gotta say its looking mighty fun! If you're set on immortals it's a good choice, but if you want a little devils advocate/mix things up read check out the phalanx thread. Lots of good ideas from dakka's necron community there!

Still softer than immortals but i love the mass gauss shots and repair.

There's nothing saying you can't do both.
I run a single Phalanx blob and a couple Immortal units (one with Tesla, walking, and one with Gauss, in a Nightscythe, with a Storm-tek attached) to great effect.
