My Local club is running a campaign soon and wondered what you guys thought of my list. I've brainstormed a fair bit recently and figured that as most of the Army has Acute Senses, yet rarely uses it. I've been trying to figure out a way to exploit this ability with an idea that I can almost herd enemy armies into the mid-field, create multiple imediate threats and excel where space wolves excel best.
I ran a very similar list to the below against a strongly competetive DE list at the weekend which ended in a very close draw and as such have since honed a few things.
I've split the list into the units starting on the board and the outflankers and tried to give an idea of what i have running in each squad:
The Starting Line up:
Rune Priest (Living Lightening, Jaws of the World Wolf)- 100pts
X8 Grey hunters (Wolf Standard, Meltagun) + Rhino - 170pts
Wolf Guard (Power Armour, Combi-Melta, Combi-Flamer) - 28pts
Rune Priest - 100pts
Long Fangs (x4 missile Launchers) + Drop Pod (Deathwind Missile Launcher) - 170pts ****
Long Fangs (x4 missile Launchers, Flamer) + Drop Pod (Deathwind Missile Launcher) - 175pts ****
Predator (Autocannon, Heavy Bolters) - 85pts
Predator (Autocannon, Heavy Bolters) - 85pts
The Outflankers
Bran Redmaw - 210pts
x10 Fenrisian Wolves - 90Pts
Wolf Priest (Saga of the Hunter, Runic Armour, Wolf Tooth Necklace, Combi-Melta) - 150pts
x10 Grey Hunters (Wolf Standard, x2 Melta Guns) + Drop Pod (Deathwind Missile Launcher) **** - 220Pts
Wolf Guard (Power Armour, Combi Flamer, Combi Melta) - 28pts
x10 Grey Hunters (Wolf Standard, x2 Melta Guns) + Drop Pod (Deathwind Missile Launcher) **** - 220Pts
Dreadnought (Assault Cannon, Heavy Flamer, Wolf Tooth Necklace) + Drop Pod (Death Wind Missile Launcher) **** - 180 Pts
Total: 2001Pts
**** Drop Pods (Deathwind Missile Launchers) - I have 5 of these in total - For clarification - the only drop pod that will be dropping with anything in it will be the one assigned to the dreadnought. The Rest will be dropping empty, the idea being that they can block line of sight and drop a few nice big pie plates (Albeit S5 - better than nothing) - This gives my opponent two options - Deal with it or Ignore it and move around it.
Potential Query for discussion:
I know outflanking units that take a dedicated transport must arrive in their dedicated transport, however my outflanking units outnumber my drop pod capacity, therefore i have no way of starting in them (intentional)- I assume that this means i can still outflank my Units and then drop my drop pods empty?
