I've only bought a box of fire warriors up to now so I'm trying to put a list together that is fairly competitive but isn't anywhere near the Farsight bomb. I just dont want another deathstar army.

The commander will be going with the markerlight drones with drone controller, everything else is a gunline with plenty of markerlights to negate cover/improve bs.

Thoughts?

*bursts though room with axe* HEEEAAARRRS JHONNY!!!

All I saw was an Ethereal and a gun line wall of FW

Your going to do just fine on the competitive side of things, but I would recommend putting your infantry in devilfishes for protection from blast templates

Hope this helps

The commander won't be able to fire his weapons if he's using the command and control node. Either make him a full Buffmander by dropping the missile pods and adding MSS, VRT, and Onager gauntlets or make in a marker commander by dropping the CnC adding target lock and a couple of drone. I would reccomend going full Buffmander on him.

I would take fusion blasters on your Riptides as you've got a good threat radius to intercept fliers with two of them and you could use the extra anti-tank. I'd also think (not necessarily do it but think about it) about dropping one of your hammerheads for a skyray missile defense gunship.

You seem to be upgrade heavy. I'd shift some points from upgrades to bolster your Troop choices. I can't remember what all the upgrades do. As long as you have feel no pain on those riptides. also the drone squad could be lost to bolster your fire warriors as well.

Drop the Shas'uis on your squad. Your ethereal will keep them in the fight. The pathfinders won't last long enough anyway. With those extra points fill out your firewarrior squads or get another kroot squad. Think about getting sniper rounds for your kroot as well.

Good, but drop CCN & NSJ. You want NSJ if you're taking weapons with <=24" where you know you will get use of it. It's an auto include, but if you're sitting back, pointless to take. CCN is best paired with MSS and is a waste of points on a Commander. TL + Ignores Cover can be given to units in other ways.

* Ethereal

Good.

When you say "Riptide Shield Generator" do you mean the drones or Nova Reactor?
If you meant drones, lose them. Otherwise they're fine.

Really no need for a Ui if you're taking an Ethereal. LD10 > LD8 + Precision Shot

* 10x Kroot

The sniper rounds are well worth it for that 1x you *really need/want* them

Missile Drones on the Broadsides are auto includes. And Target Lock > EWO as the PEN from the Commander will then allow you to target up to 4x Vehicles or MCs
