Hello,

My names Steve, I invested quite a bit of money into the 40k guard scene a few years back but got swamped with work / life and they sat in the closet unpainted and unused. Until recently when things picked up for me and I was out with my girlfriend when she asked "want to go to that store you like" I said yes and we arrived at GW when she said the models looked cool and said she would think it would be fun to paint, well shes now in the process of painting one of of tanks and I decided to get back into it . Iv got an 1850 point guard list and am just starting the process of painting the 120+ regular guardsman in my list. This forum has had alot of helpful links in it and I thought id sign up and say hi,

Have a good one and I look forward to talking with you all soon

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka

Welcome to Dakka! What paint scheme are you going with? I would suggest painting a few guard, in a few different styles. I really thought I knew what I wanted until I had about 20 done and saw them on the table.

... it was a very sad realization. Hopefully my sig other will also get into 40k after school finishes up for them!

Welcome! I also have a guard army, I painted mine grey clothing with red trimming (colar, end of sleeve etc.) and black armor and I'm happy with how they turned out. (Kind of a world war 1 German empire scheme) I have also seen some where it is grey and red, this looked good. Then a blue and black. Nice thing about guard almost anything works.
