#1 drain magic. Does drain magic have any effect upon spells which have effects that remain, but they themselves are not remains in play? Good examples would be the metal Rust spell. Or the Skaven toughness reduction spell. Would those effects also be removed? Or are they no longer subject to a drain magic spell?

#2 the ogre kingdoms spell redirector thing. Does it deflect/redirect area of affect spells also? And can irresistible force go through it? Or does it work against that also?

No. RIP is a type. Nearly every spell that's successful has an effect that remains. Whether it's causing a wound or hex or augment. It would be unbelievably powerful, not to mention really confusing, if everything that ever was had to be undone.

IF has nothing to do with the banner. That is just whether the spell is successfully cast. For the banner to block a spell, the unit has to be the TARGET. That is most spells other than those that drop a template of any kind. Because templates are placed/targeted in areas/directions and units just happen to be in the way.

Drain magic specifically removes all spell effects currently on the unit, this includes hexes augments who are spells that last more than one turn.
Note that the spell still doesn't have permission to restore wounds caused by spell so it doesn't do that.

This was covered in the old Ogre FAQ, with it removed however spells that don't specifically target the unit aren't really affected by the banner.

I don't think he was asking that. Drain magic does 2 things. It cancels all spell effects on the target. But RIP spells are a specific type. So if you cast on unit X which has an augment, it is removed. But if unit Y has the same augment, which isn't RIP, it's not removed.

Yes it is.
The spell does two things.
1: Remove all RIP.
2: Remove all other spell effects.

The spell clearly says "all remains in play spells affecting the unit are immediately dispelled, and the effects of all other spells affecting the unit immediately come to an end"

Yes.

That is what I said.

Duke said that a different unit which was also affected by the same augment would be unaffected.
Surely though, if the spell is dispelled, all units would lose it? Assuming that they had recieved the augment / hex from the same cast.

It's not dispelled. Dispel is a game term. It's cancelled on one unit. They would not have to differentiate if they were just going to turn off all spell effects in play. The RIP spell is dispelled.

Spells are only ended/dispelled from the unit that is the target of drain magic.

Huh, why not? If it cancels all spell effects, it removes all augments. I don't see what RiP has to do with that.

Wrong. It's unclear, vague, leading to a wake of questions and will be FAQ'ed.

Not quite. At least he phrased it very oddly. The same augment (ie. effect) but from a different spell, as it is not RiP. Essentially what I read there is effect A from RiP spell is cancelled by DM. Effect A from non-RiP spell B is not cancelled by DM.

Actually it's a direct quote so it is clear that this is what the spell says.
You are free to debate weather the meaning is clear however.
