For a while now I've been turning away from citadel paints for my 40k armies and started using tthe P3 series when I can. I have a friend who has offered to airbrush a few of my models for me and while I do know Citadel paints can be thinned to work with an airbrush reading reviews no one seems to be talking about P3. Does anyone know if they can be used with an airbrush and in what ratio to thinner?

Yes I use P3 paints a lot through my airbrush, aslong as they are thinned correctly you shouldn't have a problem with them.

Can you tell me what the correct ratio of thinner to paint is?

I normally run a custom mix of thinner and it can get down to 1:1 depending on the paint. My custom thinner is 5ml drying retarder, 5ml flow aid 1.5 oz of water. Wicked colors also makes a really good reducer to that works well with acrylics.
Rule of thumb is consistency of 2 percent milk.

Depends on what you use for thinner.
Yes P3 work well with airbrush.
I use a mix of 2/3 matte medium, 1/3 distilled water and 1-2 caps of flow-aid in big bottle. Transfer into a dropper bottle and work from there.
With my mix for P3 I would go about 3-4:5
Citadel is 1:1
Vallejo is about 3:5
Minitaire 2-3:5

I wonder if the liquid pigment in P3 makes them easier to airbrush.

The ratio of thinner to paint is incredibly subjective - besides the specific paint - your airbrush, the needle size you are currently using, what pressure, what your thinning medium, and what affect you are going for (basecoating vs. line work for example).
There is a lot of decent advice here (and on the other "airbrush and thinning posts" which we get about one or two a week here) - but in the end, you will have to try it and see for your set up.
Just make sure you always try on some test models first.
best of luck!
