I am interested in having tau as allies and really like the idea of a large-ish blob of kroot manning a quad gun in the back lines. 1. I like them and 2. Theyre cheap (points wise). My problem is I can't decide on which hq I would want to have sit with them. I am thinking something cheap like the ethereal but it seems the fireblade and ethereal models really only work best with firewarriors.
Any thoughts on which ones would be best? My plan is like 10 warriors and 10 hounds (to absorb wounds ). And eventually some krootox riders because they look cool. Plus if I get bored with them on the back lines, I can outflankthem or something.

Model a master sharper and use it as an ethereal. A ethereal is probably the best HQ for them as well.

for additional lulz give it a blade weapon and make it aun shi for close combat fun.

I never thought of a kroot ethereal before. That actually sounds kind of fun.

Shame GW decided Kroot were useless in combat against all previous lore to the contrary
