Hey, this is the paint scheme for my new Necrons (as opposed to my OOP Necrons). I wanted them to look cold, skeletal, and clinical, hence the white. Necrons to me would be something distressingly oppressive, like a giant healthcare collective.

My concept just lacks something, I find myself dissatisfied. I am not trolling for compliments, I think this guy needs another detail and I am not sure what.

Comments welcome, thanks.

To go with the medical theme add a small accent of red somewhere maybe

You could try liquid greenstuffing his mouth away and making the whole army mouthless and faceless except for the eyes. Would work well for a tabletop representation of the healthcare system.

I was thinking you could have the medical snake symbol on the models, but corrupted in some way.

I would consider adding a blue wash in the joints. If done neatly enough it would give the model some visual depth but still keep it on the clean and clinical feel.

Make the chest rune red with white lining on the glyph itself? Or were you just joking about the healthcare thing?

Still, I'd ditch the green rods (or paint over them) and substitute a cold blue glow effect.

I like the creepy green energy motiff. Perhaps a drybrushing job would add some depth to those rods. Thanks for the advice!

Update:

So I completed this squad of warriors which constitutes my first attempt at painting in over a year and a half. Thanks to everyone who helped out with painting advice. I decided the way to bring out some nice details was to go over the top with details on the weapons and then to add some "green power crystals" to the warriors bases. I recycled the sprues from the kit to make that happen. I wish I had some more colors for a more Command and Conquer type effect. Oh well.

Sorry for the image quality all I had to use for the photo was my iPhone 4.

I like the way the blades on the weapon turned out and I now think painting the rod is a must. I used a florescent green to drybrush the rod and added a "lightning effect." I know it looks painted on (compared to other peoples work here) but I think its a good start.

When you paint these models white the plastic anomalies really stand out. I don't think I will be painting any more Necrons white. Not without judicious clean up and mold line reduction anyway.

Cheers!

If you want a bright white I think you should shade with VGC wolf grey.

Update to the NecronDog file:

I have some new additions to the Army. I decided I wanted to go with a Canopotek heavy army. So here are the new guys:

Can't go wrong with two views since the tomb spyder is just so tricky to photograph
I am finally picking up on the highlighting techniques with white and other colors to give strange effects. I really like the gloom prism on this one.

I was particularly happy with the color scheme I picked out, matches my new warriors nicely.

The wraiths I wanted a little darker and malevolent: hence the super glossy dark eye ports.

I wanted Trazyn to match my evil green army concept, why do I like green so much?

I hope you enjoyed them.
