So, I started space marines, Iron Hands primarily, and I wish to use the Conversion beamer on bike. Now since it isn't a set model, I wanted to pay homage to megaman, but alas I am not that great at sculpting and would like some ideas on what to use for my mega buster.

I was thinking about use burst cannons from tau, doin a bit of a chop job and placing it on a biker's forearm, thoughts?

I would NOT use a tau burst cannon, it isn't Imperial enough. I'd get two types of small tubing, hack the arm off at the elbow, but the larger bit of tubing over that, then a smaller bit inside, and add details on the outside.

bump =( I do like the idea of having a custom made arm cannon, just not that confident in my modeling skills tbh

I'm not sure how Imperial in design the Megaman proton cannon really is. Just go with what looks the best honestly. Maybe try using one of the pre-heresty jump pack turbines that come with chaos raptors. Probably a similar turbine model on some filthy imperial unit as well.
