Hey all,

I am completely new to W&H, I have had a look at the models and retribution of Scyrah really took my fancy.

I am looking for advice for a 35 point list and what casters and general set-up's are friendly to new players.

Cheers

If you are completely new to Warmachine, picking up the Retribution battlebox and playing the hell out of that against other boxes will do a lot of good in order to get a hang of the way models move and mechanics work over time. The box also is nice since you can use a kit later to turn the Manticore into Discordia and the lights might get used about over time.

From there there's a lot one can build off of, such as troops, support and all that. But I think the battlebox and smaller games are generally going to help you learn more fully than jumping to 35pts asap.

And stuff.

Blaque really has the gist of it. Playing 5-10 battlebox games (though a lot suggest more than that) to help you get the hang of the system is the best way to start.

Other than that I'm just going to list some of the generally agreed upon "Must Haves":

Mage Hunter Strike Force + UAs(you'll want Eiryss3 when she releases)
Mage Hunter Assassins (usually see 2)
Eiryss2 (Mercenary Model that when working for Ret becomes a Retribution model instead of a merc)
Sylys Wyshnalyrr (Another Mercenary that is a Retribution model instead when used by them)
Stormfall Archers
Arcanist

At the moment you see a lot of Ravyn, Kaelyssa, and Vyros2 when people talk "competitive" Ret. Ravyn's feat really brings out the best in your ranged elements which Retribution has a lot of, and does really well. Kaelyssa is a good all around warcaster that has some cool tricks up her sleeve when it comes to her spell list and her amazing ranged weapon. Vyros generally runs light jack spam, and does it well through his Synergy spell.

Guys,

Great advice, thank you. I will get the battle box and play with that for a while to get the idea of things then.

Derek, thanks for the advice over what units to take and the general advice of what Scyrah are good at.

I now know how to start, thanks again.
