First step play Salamanders with Vulkan He'stan.

Why? The Forgefather rule.

- All Meltaguns, Multi-Meltas, and Combi-Melta weapons in He'stan's detachment count as Master-crafted. (It is not a Chapter Tactic Rule)

Second Step use a couple Legion of the Damned Squads and attach them to He'stan as his Detachment.

Why? Flaming Projectiles rule.

- All Ranged shots ignore cover. Three models hit by Meltas will die. Unless your the lucky guy who always rolls 1's on rerolls like me.

A friend showed this to me. I only hope GW FAQ's this and says LotD are not affected by Character Special Rules in C:SM.

Looks legit. Also looks like a lot more work (and points cost) than it's worth.

The old meta is dead and the new meta struggles to be born. Now is the time of munchkins.

It will probably get FAQ'd.
But is that so important anyway?
Wouldn't UM's be better when Tigerius can almost guarantee good abilities with Divination?

I think that it's not as big as a force multiplier as you think.

The LoD's rule "Aid Unlooked For", first sentance:

The Legion of the Damned do not benefit from Chapter Tactics and their units cannot be joined by Independent Characters.

Forgefather rule doesn't need the IC to join them ánd it isn't a Chapter Tactic.
So it works, but I am still not convinced about it "breaking the codex".

So is the cheese that you Deepstrike them down near a vehicle, then fire a meltagun, a combi-melta, and snapshot a multi-melta at a vehicle, rerolling misses and ignoring cover?

If that is it, I don't think it is going to shift the meta.

Whoops, I miss read.

And I agree, its not really that broken... its rather expensive for 3 melta shots.

So far the most interesting "new" thing I've seen in the codex (in the eyes of a Salamanders player) are throw away Assault Squads. I try to play fluffy Salamanders, and usually have my Fast Attack slots empty and available, and for 100 Points I can get a 5 man Assault Squad in a Drop Pod with 2 twin-linked Flamers and a set of master-crafted Melta Bombs for 100 points. Looks like fun!

Naah, only meltaguns, combi-melta's and multi's are Master-crafted.
And I wouldn't call them a throw-away squad if you want to charge

I'm not talking about using Vulkan He'stan at all, just the Salamanders Chapter Tactics (It effectively twin links all flamer type weapons, and lets the freebie Sarge, who is in fact a character, master craft a weapon, ie- his melta bombs).

For 100 points each, you can drop a couple cheap squads first turn into the enemies line. In addition to the obvious alpha strike of dual flamers, their real purpose is to force the enemy to react and tie up some of their forces. If they don't do anything about them, then now you have a couple of small teams running around in their back field, melta bombing tanks, roasting light infantry, and tieing up units in assault. 100 points is nothing if it allows you to get the rest of your army into position.

I thought LotD already never benefited from Chapter Tactics

I like that one Arkios. Not OP but a viable tactics for a budget unit. If you change it to tacticals you will loose a flamer but get a scoring unit down there.

BTW Legion of the Damned are Slow and Purposeful so will be able to shoot 3 melta weapons on normal BS when they land. And have 3++ save. And only costs 155 pts.

Much more codex breaking combo. Legion of the Damned and gravguns/combigravs! Full salvo, ignores armor, ignores cover. Goodbye Riptide.

Death is just the beginning, for those who walk the path of Valhalla. Flesh is the stuff of the enemy, transcend it, for only in spirit are the Eldar truly eternal.

Doesn't ignore the 3++ thing the Riptide can do. Just saying.

Correction, you NEED to take Vulkan to make melta weaponry master crafted.

Chapter tactics for sally's are reroll flame weapons to wound rolls and armor pen rolls, and reroll armor saves from flame wounds.
