My friend who runs dark angels is looking at suiting up with some centurions to flesh out his last couple hundred points. What are your thoughts? They are essentially killa Kans..... but I don't know how competitive they can get, nor does he.

Let me know. Thanks

They are really nothing like Killa Kans. They're far more durable and dangerous. At least Centurian Devastators, which have excellent firepower, especially with the Graviton Guns.

Also I was informed the other day that dark angels can't take centurions since it isn't in their codex. So in order to take them you need an allied detachment.

He has an allied contingent of ultramarines.

The guys at the shop summed up centurions as killa Kans... so I guess they are like weak dreadnoughts?

He needs a codex still, we were just inquiring on how competitive they are... vs say tyranids at 2500 pts.... nidzilla. Are the dev patterns worth it?

They are very competitive. Played a game the other day and 3 were wiping out a 10 man squad of marines each turn. It was crazy and how well they kill anything with a decent armor.

I would bring them in a Landraider... though that's not competitive at all.

Imagine 6 with graviton guns in a landraider... using Ravenguard chapter tactics

Scout the landraider forward, then disembark and start blowing units away with impunity.

No, they are too expensive and not durable enough for the little fire power they bring whilst requiring too much to make them work. And that is just the devastator ones.

I bet they would make great mega armoured nobz though.

I'm pretty sure the 30 graviton cannon shots at 24" will destroy whatever you point them at...

Except ork boyz... the 18 TL heavy bolter shots might do something but not the graviton guns haha.

A 2+ and t5 with 2 wounds is not durable?? Sure they don't have an invul but that is fixable. Point them at their biggest threat and let them loose. They will destroy it. This a go to unit and I can see the devastator version being used a lot.

If you can kill 6 DW knights without shields you can sure as heck kill 3 centurions. Which means really only orks will have troubledealing with them.

I plan to field a unit of devastator centurions attached to Tigurius. Since he has a damn good chance of getting a single power (in this case, Gate of Infinity) I can have him bouncing guys all around the battlefield. It will be awesome.

That's a terrible comparison, broadsides are good at their job and reasonably costed whilst actually competing for the role with other units in the army.

Not a bad idea, except the most you can get in a Land Raider is 5, and that in a Crusader.
Centurions are Very Bulky, so take up three slots each.
