Looking for feedback on a Crimson Fists/Imperial Fists successor list. It isn't really supposed to be mega-competitive, but I'm just kind of testing the water to find a good and balanced Imperial Fist army list. Pretty self explanatory list; gun-line on top of the Skyshield, with Combat Squads and the like as necessary to grab midfield objectives. Not sure how to run Sternguard on foot, but I would rather not have an all drop-pod list and nor do I like having just one or two drop pods in a list. Any suggestions on the Sternguard? Cheers for any advice!

Any thoughts?

By the by, as I don't want to start another thread, I also came up with a Salamanders army at the same points level. Cheers for any feedback on either list!

I'm not a massive fan of MSU nor of carrying around eleven drop pods, but it just seems like Salamanders are naturally suited to drop pod lists.

Some Tomb World in some galaxy by that one thing in that one place (or Minnesota for nosy people)

You have a ridiculousamount of AT in your fist list try swapping a dev squad for a tfc or give heavy bolters to take advantage of bolter drill and tank hunters at the same time if they decide to harrass some light tanks because all you have for real anti horde is a few plasma cannons

Yep, I definitely agree, I was probably being a bit too over-zealous with the whole Tank Hunter Devastators thing. How does this edited list look? I have 85 points spare after taking everything, I really want to try and fit in a Thunderfire Cannon or five Devastators with four heavy bolters, but end up just short. Not sure where to drop points to fit them in though. In any case, I spent the points on an Aegis Line with the icarus lascannon, which seems like a handy bonus for one of the Devastator Sergeants to have; skyfire, interceptor, tank hunting lascannon, and he can still use the Signum when my turn comes around.

Which list do you guys like more? Really want a themed list with no vehicles, hard to win with Marines on foot but I want to make it work.

List 1

HQ
Pedro

Troops
Tacticals (10) w/ heavy bolter, plasma gun (heavy bolters are just for bolter drill theme)
Tacticals (10) w/ heavy bolter, plasma gun

Elites
Sternguard (10) w/ meltabombs (throwaway five points)
Sternguard (10)
Sternguard (10)

Heavy Support
Devastators (10) w/ four lascannons
Devastators (10) w/ four lascannons
Thunderfire Cannon

Fortification
Aegis Defence Line w/ quad gun

List 2

HQ
Pedro

Troops
Tacticals (10) w/ heavy bolter, flamer (had to drop plasma guns to fit in extra Devastator unit)
Tacticals (10) w/ heavy bolter, flamer

Elites
Sternguard (10) w/ meltabombs (throwaway points)
Sternguard (10)
Sternguard (10)

Heavy Support
Devastators (10) w/ four lascannons
Devastators (10) w/ four lascannons
Devastators (10) w/ four lascannons

Really not sure which one I like more. The second has more bodies, but is less likely to deal with flyers well at all - however, I don't see too many in my meta, as most everyone plays Marines/Tau/Eldar, so it isn't too big a concern. The first one however gives important cover to the bodies that need it, plus anti-air and extra anti-infantry in a Thunderfire Cannon.
I'm thinking that with twenty Tacticals with heavy bolters as well as thirty Sternguard, anti-infantry should not be a problem at all, so maybe the second list might be better? Gives me three incredibly potent anti-tank units, plus seventy-nine dudes have krak grenades, one has meltabombs, the last has five power fist attacks on the charge.

Thanks for any info! I realize I am handicapping myself by taking an all-foot list, but I want to try and make it work.

Any suggestions? I'm pretty keen on 81 Space Marines at 1850 points, particularly given that all but 31 of them are getting either a good or huge benefit from the Chapter Tactics.

SM aren't a large-amount-of-bodies-reliant-army. 50 bodies at 1850 is pretty decent IMO. But If you want an all foot list, try raven guard or BA. I don't know too much about BA but in the new codex, raven guard have fleet, scout and if I take shrike I get another bonus for jumppack units( don't have codex with me rite now).

Although jumppacks are the way to go for footslogging lists.

But if you still want to play Pedro w/sternies , I would advise maybe giving your sternguard DPs and maybe swapping secs for dev centurions in a stormraven delivery system to your opponents deployment zone to really give your opponent lots of pressure

Cents in your deployment zone is no joke.

Hope you found this somewhat useful.
