Hi,

I'm playing a 1750 game against Tyranids. I have never played against them. What units and tactics are helpful here?
The nids are horde army, like orks, but have a high I so Jaws will not be as good, as with greenskins.
My first idea was a gunline army, just stand and shoot. But i would like to hear from someone with bigger experience.

You shouldn't be so worried about nids with wolves.

You have Jaws, so many missiles and grey hunters with plasma pods. Seriously, not that hard. You got the best psychic defense too.

nids aren't as horde as you think.

Jaws kills their best unit Tervigons. Drop in a rune priest and bye bye tervigon turn one. Better still if the nid player doesn't know how to deploy and Jaws could take down several MCs.

They have MC. All depends on the list you play though.

I'd get a pair of Missile Long fangs units. Two rune priests for pods and several grey hunter squads with plasma guns. Don't worry, I'm a nid player and one of my toughest match ups is a smart wolf list. You deny all my powers on a 4+...ouch

I'd still run a lot of Rune Priests...deny them as much psychic abilities as possible. While SitW is great anti-psyker, Rune weapons are almost better...

Living lightning can also make a dent in both MCs and hordes. A naked RP with Living Lightning and LotWW is only 100pts. They are begging to be spammed.

Daemons--5000
Death Guard --2000
Daemons--15000
Word Bearers--10000

Total investment in the Forces of Chaos: 38,000

Simple.

Focus on the Tervigon(s). Once those are dead, then go for the Tyrant.

When a Tervigon dies, it likes to take it's babies with it. So try to kill it early while it's still close to them.

Killing Tervigons is not that easy. T6 W6 means you will will have to make a lot of shots to do it. If its gets the correct Biomancy table then the job get even harder. It may take 2 rounds of focused shooting to make it happen. Not to mention any Nid player with half a hive mind always takes 2.

Or one Jaws of the World Wolf.

Space Wolves versus Nids is one of the easiest and stupidest match ups in the game.

Dark Eldar are the only army better suited to defeating the Tyranid netlist. Grey Hunters are good enough to fight the hordes of small bugs, Long Fangs have the volume to handle flyrants, and Rune Priests are something of an I Win button against Tervigons, Zoanthropes, Hive Guard, and Doom.
