Hey all, I'm finally getting to painting my models and have decided to go with the Black Legion traitor legion.
Though I need some help on color scheme, I know the black legion has a lot of black and gold but does any one have any idea on colors like which to get for washes and which to base with. that kind of thing.
As this is is my first miniature painting endeavor

Nuln Oil and Agrax or similar color would work. As for basing you can stick with a simple grey texture washed brown. Now i haven't tired much else in basing since i have been working in bulk but you can try Martha's Stewart white texture effect work well if you are strapped for cash. I do recommend you apply it before priming or at least before bascoating.

When you get comfortable with washing, making your own washes with oil paints and mineral spirits is pretty easy and cost effective.

Another plus is that you get a wide range of potential wash colors.

Currently having a lot of success with it!

Important thing to remember when painting black is that you don't want your model to actually be black.

Paint him a dark grey, highlight the edges a lighter grey, then wash it black. The only parts of your model that should be real black are the deepest shadows.
