Hi I have taken a slightly different approach in designing my Blood Angels army, yes atm I am designing blood angels not codex space marines. The idea is to create a more shooty list with some weaponary a little longer that 12 inches while keeping with the fluff of the Blood Angels... 155 - Reclusiarch JP 240 - Assault Squad (10) 2x Meltagun, Power Fist, Meltabombs 250 - Tactical Squad (10) Meltagun, Multi-Melta, Rhino (hunter-killer missile and dozer blade) or Extra Armour? 250 - Tactical Squad (10) Meltagun, Multi-Melta, Rhino (hunter-killer missile and dozer blade) or Extra Armour? 100 - Scout Squad (5) 4x Sniper, Missile Launcher, 5x Camo Cloaks Not sure on the meltaguns for the tactical squad being 12 inches and the rest of their guns 24 inches... maybe plasma guns? The scout squad can hold back field objectives, tactical's mid field objectives and the assault squad distant objectives... So what do you think? To me it seems kind of solid, although I am a bit wary of putting 20 marines in two (weak) rhino's... is this an issue and is there another way? - Thanks

Well, for a single ASM squad, divination is more powerful than codex powers. If you roll the 4++ save, you are boss. Prescience makes them do 50% more damage in many circumstances.

you should be able to Fire it either way extra armour just isn't worth it.
Maybe take a second pintle mounted SB i know you can fire all defencsive weapons after moving but you may only to be able to fire the hunter killer if you move 6"

i think my battle scry is messed up on points cost because its saying that the multi meltas are free.
if your going to take a second pintle SB you might as well drop the two hunter killers so you get up to the enemy faster.

Yep Ok thanks for your help, i'll drop the hk for the second stormbolters.
I think the points are a fit varied, the 5 man scout squad at 132 points should be 7 man (5 man is 100)
Anyway for a rough idea it looks good, thanks

not very but better than walking them, maybe drop pods?

Yeah, both ways seem to be not specialising to make full use of the units, ie the assault squad having to run and the drop pod assault not being used effectively... Not sure how to get around that without losing the jump packs and the Libby (i think) for another DP.
So just getting thoughts to paper:
For DP assault three (let's say three) DP's are needed for it to be effective (and to stop all enemy guns on one target)
Only allowing 10 models, special characters (libby) can not DP even if the assault squad lost its jump packs for a DP
So we are looking for a smaller unit than 10 so that the hq can also DP. However this unit cannot be too expensive as the reserve rolls may delay it and Therefore if that's the case the unit must not be relied upon, so a scoring unit for late capture/contest would be suggested (I believe)
Now I am not sure where that leaves the assault squad, they seem out of place in this speculative DP list.
Each unit has about 225 points each max. The Libby is 100 points. If the DP tacs are 210 each then that's 420 + 100 (Libby) = 520. Another unknown unit in a drop pod (could be another Tac) brings it up to 210 + 520 = 730. This leaves 270 points for another unit. This could be a slightly more expensive unit DP'ing.
This does specialise which i believe would make a stronger list.
I haven't run it by points but I think another option is, 9 man death company with chaplain in a land raider supported by two assault squads flanking it.
So after that long speal, did you make sense of it? Am I correct in ways? What are your suggestions?

This only shows up as 920 points on my battle Scry (i have been told the points are off). The sternguard come in first turn Alpha Strike then lay down fire. They have mixed weapons so you can Combat squad them upon exit from drop pods, make sure you do combat squad or your wasting firepower when they come in. the two assualt squads come in at later turns(one of them carries the libby) and cleans up/ caps objectives.
After you calculate the points total add or subtract items as neccessary.

I've been thinking, would stormravens be a good way to transport the troops?
Then I think assault squads on the ground would work well in conjunction.

not really. you have to realize that its random.
in 5th edition this worked out great.
load up a squad and a dread on them fly them accross the board turn 1 and multi melta their tanks then on turn two you drop the squads and dread before flying off. Now not so much. going to be turn 3 before you can really make use of anything loaded up on them. only reason i load something up on them now is to keep them from starting on the board. they do cause some havoc though and will take out enemy fliers.

hehe no problems, the one thing i know for sure is how to run blood angels.
From the lists presented here your best bet is the drop pod army.
Biggest thing is play test before you invest in the models(im sure your local store won't mind you proxying to playtest) so you can find what works best for you.
Can't wait to see your next list cause i love me some blood angels.
