Using Drop Pod Assault the Sterngaurds Drop in and Combat Squad by weapons group respectivly(flamers or Meltaguns). This should let me Alpha Strike their troops and tanks. The following turns the Storm Raven which has the Assualt Squad and LIbby and the tactical squads come in.
Tac Squads drop onto objectives and hold them while the assualt squad/libby do clean up of the enemy.

i split the weapons of the sterngaurds to give me a better spread( they won't always drop where i want them).
Unless everything goes terribly wrong this seems like it could work really well.

Want to make this really annoying. Take them as Iron Hands for FnP or sallies for the twin linked goodness.

Also, I really like heavy flamers so I may try to convince you to run a couple!

i built it as BA cause i don't have the new SM Codex (deployed to afghanistan right now so really im just thinking up lists that i would like to try and i only have BA on my Battle Scry).

Hmm I personally think army would be better as crimson fists. Or as said before sallies. Even IF would be good.

The chapter traits work well for drop pod lists.

I dont recommend you take plasma cannons for the tacticals. You plan for them to come in wave 2 (so at least turn 2) and then they cant be snap fired meaning that the earliest they can shoot is turn 3 and thats only if they didnt move.

They are basically the worst drop pod choice even though I think they are a fine weapon.

I am not really a fan of heavy bolters ever, but they are not too bad in pods as you can at least snap fire 3 times.

I would probably save the points and skip the heavy weapon in them all together.

I think the list is ok, I just wish it was a better faction for drop pods.

Maybe just use assualt squads? then i can toss two plasma rifles on the troops

BA: your loadout should cost 335 with the pod (10 Sternguards, 10 combis + Drop pod)

C:SM: based on the rumors (I don't have the dex at hand), your loadout should cost 355 with drop pod (10 Sternguards, 10 combis + Drop pod)

It's a nice Alpha Strike concept, but you need to rework it to fit your pts limit.

I think as ba this list is great, but could you find points for tycho?

ill see he could join one of the vangaurd squads. but i don't have a copy of my codex with me and have to rely of battle scry so my points may be off.

Realized i had forgot to add the drop pods in th original list. but this should work out for you. if the points are off i left enough room in there too add them in.

Replace one assault squad with an ironclad to soak up all the fire, beef up your squads to 10 men so you can combat squad. Take out the locator beacons(their redundant IMHO). Replace the combi meltas with some combi flamers to maintain some versatility
