Working on this 2000pt Salamanders list, i haven't done space marines in a loooong time and I'm a little unsure of how big my army should really expect to be. Coming from DE its quite a culture shock!
But heres a list of things I kind of want to include in my army and I would love some feedback and advice on it!

A few things I know already!
Its over 2000pts, I need to refine this!
Bikes are fluff-friendly with Salamanders, but the idea of having fast moving meltas with rerolls appeals to me.
A few things I'm sad I cant fit: Dreadnought, doesn't feel right without them!

at 2k you look rather low on troops, I'd suggest you need a bit more troop choice for taking objectives?

I also feel that not having at least one unit of stern guard is a mistake.
I also second the "get more troops" sentiment.
Realize too. A MotF is not really a cc unit. If you are taking bikes, give him a bike and a conversion beamer.
Are your LotD squads 10 man?

lotd is only a 5man, 10 and they got a little pricey.
I was looking to put stern in though should I bother giving them heavy weapons and looking toward having them being a slower advancing unit (multi meltas?) as opposed to them usng melta guns?
And how big a stern should I run, 10man?

Focus on the troops first. I honestly really like scouts with camo cloaks in a speeder. It's cheap, and if you do a good job of reserves they can pop in, shoot something off an objective and capture it. They are great for line breaker too. I would say get a pair of ten man tac units, put them in rhinos, keep the upgrades to a minimum.
For stern guard. If you load them out, they get pretty pricey. A five man unit with heavy flamers is fun. I guess it kinda depends on your meta. What are you fighting?

One thing to consider, lotd do not get chapter tactics.

Youre a little thin on troops as said. Try and find a way to add more.
Are the Rhino Tac squads 10 man or 5 man? I assume 10 man as you have a heavy and special. It just reads as 5 man to me.
I like the 'Scout Missile' squad in a Land Speeder storm idea. Great to bring on from reserves for late game objective grabbing.
One or two Fast Attack units in a Salamanders list is ok. Just dont add more, its not fluffy
To fit in more troops, maybe remove one squad of LotD? They are cool but not more resilient than normal marines to small arms.
You could also remove one squad of the Centurions? They are very expensive.

I know, the reroll to melta weaponry is vulkan's special rule its not a chapter tactic. Automatically Appended Next Post: tac squads are 10, they come as a default with 5, then you see the +5 more

Ok well here is my suggestion
Load them up with melta and flamer, in any number or variety to take advantage of your special rules. Keep in mind since you are not running a drop pod army, that these guys might do well in a razorback.

Oh I must have read that incorrectly, I thought he only allowed salamanders to reroll melta.

salamanders get to reroll all flamer weaponry rolls to wounds and armor saves against. Also any character can upgrate there weapon to be master crafted at no additional points
This I noticed dev centurions sergeant is a infantry/character so I can upgrade his gravity cannon to be master crafted according to salamanders chapter tactics.
But vulkan independently causes all melta weaponry to become master crafted so long as he is the warlord of your army but its not a chapter tactic.
