I have a doubles game coming up with a modified force org chart. I can only use 1 of each Elite, Heavy and Fast. This is my half of the 2k.

HQ
Libby with Storm shield, Auspex and Terminator Armour (he will be joined to the Centurion Squad)

Elite
Assault Centurion Squad
Sergeant with Twin linked melta
Hurricane bolters on all 3
Land Raider Crusader as a transport

Troops
2x 10 man squads in pods with 1 Grav gun (I am torn between Grav or Plasma)

Heavy
Hunter

Comes out to 1k.

I haven't had much play testing done with Grav guns, so if anyone has had some testing I would love to know whether you think a Grav gun or a Plasma gun is better suited to the squads.

Thanks for any tips.

If you're using pods, my inclination is to say plasma is the better option, as you'll get the same number of shots when moving, but at double range and probably wounding the target on 2s anyway, still ignoring armour. You also have more chance to pen and therefore explode vehicles than with the gravs.

The centurion deathstar seems incredibly expensive for what is essentially only a 1k point list, and without divination, I'm not sure what the libby adds. I'd prefer to put the points into a large-ish unit of termies to DS with the libby, so that with good rolls you have 20 tacs, and as many as 10 TDA in the enemy deployment zone or midfield.

Out of interest, who are you allying with?

The libby was chosen for a couple of reasons. The first reason being that it is a cheap HQ choice. Secondly, with Terminator Armour and a Storm shield, he will be at the forefront of the unit to soak up any big shots that might otherwise kill the Centurions.

I originally had a unit of 5 Terminators with TH / SS but decided instead to go for the Centurion option. I think they are a superior assault unit that also brings quite a lot of firepower to the table for an assault unit.

I am allying with a Dark Angels army that is bringing 2 Land Raiders (there is 1 floating slot for each heavy / fast / elite useable by either player). His list has a techmarine on a bike with the power field generator. He also has a banner of devastation inside one of his land raiders.

In that case, the DA player should be able to handle anti-infantry pretty well with te BOD LR (I'm assuming it's a crusader), so you should focus on anti-tank, so plasma or even melta is best for the tacs, to take out the threats to the LR and then let them do their thing.

I fully agree the libby is a great choice, what I meant was that he didn't add as much to the centurions as he could do to termies, as if he tanks ID for the cents and fails, he'll die anyway, giving up STW. The termies would be better due to relying less on the 3++ from the libby. You also get more hits for your points, for the slight trade-off in assault power, but if you are in the LR then you aren't shooting anyway.
