So which biker army reigns supreme now? Seems like the white scars have some pretty cool new toys. Haven't actually looked at the new book yet so I don't know how the points stack up. But do the Scars have anything as cool as the Knights?

Someone once told me this about Porsche Panameras:
"There are two Panamera's in my hood. Visual pepper spray. When Jesus was on the cross and cried out "Father, why have you forsaken me?" it wasn't because of the whole crucifixion, it was because he foresaw the design of the Porsche Panamera."

Scars (well all Marine bike armies) have grav gun command squads. 210 points buys you 15 grav shots on a relentless platform.

I don't know if that's as "cool" as Black Knights, who do something similar with plasma, 210 points for five models, but it's certainly a nasty option for something that can basically remove a monstrous creature a turn.

Dark Angels have more support options for their bikes, so I'd say they get a slight edge there.

For myself, since I like the imagery of the Black Templars, I'd like to do a small detachment of Templar bikes lead by a Templar bike Captain to run alongside my Ravenwing.

I don't know if I agree that RW have better support options. Again, I don't know points but the new AA tank looks to help one of the major weaknesses I've found with my RW.

One thing the Scars certainly don't have is the PFG. That helps the RW survive.

Gonna say White Scars. The new rules are very favorable to them.

Ravenwing, Dakka Banner with a PFG baby. 4 TL bolter shots per biker is a lot of firepower. I dont think white scars can keep up with that.

Ravenwing I think are better with synergy because of the teleport homer, you can warp in deathwing I believe which is a good support for the bikes.

White Scars bikes are so much cheaper though. All it takes is Allying with DA to acquire those few toys (darkshroud, etc) that they RW have up on them.

I may be wrong but dont those toys only effect units from the DA Codex?

Some do, some don't. The stealth from the Darkshroud works on any friendly units nearby. The +1 to determining assault results only applies to DA.

Wouldn't cost many points at all to ally in a DA Libby on a bike, with a PFG if you'd like, grab a command squad of Black Knights, a Darkshroud and a group of 5 scouts or something.

The way I read it is that the White Scars have the better basic units, while the Ravenwing get better support choices that act as force multipliers with bikes very well...

It depends how you look at it but as I am planning on running a Bike-List (my own Chapter based on White Scar Rules), I feel that as a whole they are the more solid Bike list. While the Ravenwing has some solid units, the White Scars have a better selection of support options, and unlike the DA's, have acess to a far better flyer in the Stormtalon, which in this edition can be a huge factor due to all the flyers we see these days. Also, Khan can make all bike units scout, and the Command Squad having access to Grav-Guns makes it a more appeling then plasma, as I feel plasma isn't worht it on bikes as due to the low model count and risk of killing your own units.

Having ran the numbers, I see RW being eclipsed by WS. What's fun is allying in RW and having Samy run with a 10 man WS bike squad (that's +1 from SR and +1 for CT, for 2+ cover save... with 6 grav gun shots to boot).

Then you can either bring a BK squad or a DarkShroud and add it to the WS bike force... tons of fun.

I think that a combo of both is going to give you some great results I think. Better anti-air and cheaper units overall with the WS and all of the fun little tricks with the RW.

It's a shame that RW command squads are limited to 3(unless I've missed that somewhere.) because a shroud, Sam and a squad of 6 knights could be pretty fun. Heck throw in a DW squad while we're at it.

Time to go convert up some graviton RW me thinks....

RW Command squads were FAQ'd to 5 models.

Yup just read that, you caught me before my edit, you have my thanks regardless. That does seem a bit better.

We can call it the Ravenwing package. Sam, 5 BKs, Shroud, Scouts w/ sniper rifles. Add Deathwing for flavoring.

My usual opponent is already busting my chops and I haven't even said anything about using my RW as WS yet.
