Here are the guidelines for the 40K Tournament we will be holding during the event:

Warhammer 40k Tournament
GAME DAY
Saturday September 14th
1pm
Entry: $5

Scenario : 4x4 Board Dawn of War Setup
1000 Points No Allies
4 Objectives 1 per board quarter - 2vp Each
Slay the Warlord, First Blood, Line breaker.
6 Pieces of Terrain alternate Setup
Roll for Deployment and Set up/First Turn.

Prize Support Based on attendance
Raffle tickets as well as $5 in store credit per player.

Is this a one game tournament ? or you running the same mission for each round? How many people are you guys expecting

The format will be Tournament style single-elimination so the winners of each round will play each other. The mission will be the same each round. We expect about 10 to 12 people for the tournament.

We've been in Montclair for over a year now but we just moved into a bigger location a couple months ago so we can have more gaming tables out for players to play on. We have slowly grown our catalog of GW and other tabletop games to a point where we have mostly everything in stock now. Our Warhammer 40K league is also growing in size so we hope to have a bigger presence in the Warhammer community.

One question about the single elimination thing.Maybe im misunderstanding this, but if we start with 10 then round two we have 5 player? then round three 2.5 players?

We don't know exactly how many players we will have but we will adjust the format accordingly if a situation like that arises. We could do a loser's bracket to correct the numbers if we need to.

Well, 11 points per game (2 for each quarter plus the 3 bonus points) can settle the odd numbers in round 2.
For 10 people, 5 winners and the top scorer in the losers bracket move up...This would allow a person who played well, but lost due to the vagaries of that first blood point (who won the dice roll usually gets FB) a second look in the winners bracket.

To make the tournament more streamlined and so that everyone can play games, we have decided to make the format for the Tournament 3 rounds of Swiss and prize payout based on record. Each player will play 3 games no matter what. We think this is the best solution so that we don't have any confusion if we have an uneven amount of players.

That is not really true. 50% of the time it is nightfight and it is easy enough to stay 49 inches away from anything that can easily kill light armor. Infantry in any sort of cover have a 3+ or better .If its not night fight its still not that hard to stay out of range of the mid range weapons or out of LOS completely. Alot of guys who go first will either stay back and wait for other player to walk into range or go full speed fowards and get shot to bits
