I know a relic blade is considered to be a two handed weapon, but under two handed it only shows that I cannot gain an extra attack from having two weapons. A storm shield is the same.

It very much looks like with the new space marine codex that I can select a relic blade to replace my chainsword, and then add a storm shield. Can I do this with a two handed weapon. I dug for an answer and could not be certain. Also can I field this guy with a relic blade and a storm shield and put him on a space marine bike?

It worked in the old Codex as well for some models, and looks like it is still a valid option.

nothing stops you from having a 2 hander + storm shield,

have fun!

The only thing the two handed weapon does is restrict you from getting the bonus attack. If you legally were able to buy them, you could put nine of them on a single character. Relic blade + Storm Shield = pretty awesome.

To give some realworld insight on this: Most two-handed weapons can be taken in a single hand, but it causes you to attack slower. Much slower!

I know you are just trying to justify it, but

Common sense/Logic/how it works in the real world has no bearing...

Remember: The rules were not written to be "Modern day real world" logical.

The rules are an abstract system used to simulate a battle in the year 40,000.

What would happen in the modern day real world has nothing to do with the RAW, or the simulation of a battle fought 38,000 years from now.

As such they need to have some compromises to make the game playable.
