Thinking about Relics and what not. Is anything that has a weapon profile a 'weapon'. For example can you MC Vulkan's spear? I would think no. Its not war gear, its listed as a relic, but it has a weapon profile ....
What about krak grenades. They are in the weapons chapter of the BRB, they have a weapon profile. Can I replace my krak grenades to pick up a chapter relic?
I know the direction I lean on this, but lets hear best arguments for both sides. What, RAW, can you provide if you had to plead your case to a TO?

In my area we do count grenades of all types as weapons since they are in that section of the core rulebook, I would also include any special/relic weapon special characters have since they do have a profile for use in either shooting or melee combat (depends on the weapon they have)

So you would have no issue with me building a chaos dude with a plasma pistol, bolt pistol and the black mace? having exchanged my grenades for the mace.

Correct, grenades can really only be traded for relics/artifacts/etc since they only require a weapon, whereas the others require a specific weapon (pistol, ccw, etc).

Yeah, before the FAQ, I used to exchange grenades for a power sword with my Xenos Inquisitors. Under this edition, grenades are totally weapons.
