I managed to score these old tanks off some friends for free. I thought I would share what Ive done so far, and ask the community what could be done to improve their image.

Now a truck, but potentially a battle wagon...

Maybe take some chuncks out of your bottle cap turrets and find a way to make them look a little more orky.

My least favorite thing are the track guards, for some reason I couldnt seem to make Orkish ones. I was hoping that painting checkers on them would help. But the more I look at them, the more I think thats wishful thinking.

These look fantastic, but i'd consider busting up the track guards so they look more like old Imperial ones, not to mention a few dings and bullet holes in the actual tanks. Right now they look very neat, which is nice and fits the Rogue Trader to 2nd/3rd edition Orks, but not 4th edition if you're going for that look. If you want neat Ork tanks, that's fine too.

I think paint and a TON of weathering will help with the track guards. Very nice work though.

Indeed^^
A lick of paint will do wonders They look really good at the moment though. For the battlewagon id add some more spikey bits on the sides? perhaps a couple grots scrambling around? or a gun enplacement with orks on it? I always think nothing says salvage ork more than orks on it! The front panels on the rhinos look really cool and the tracks first boom wagon I really love Im in the process of converting some rhinos etc to battlewagons and feeling inspired to add more detail to my tracks

Keep up the good work mate.

I will admit I do like my orks a bit clean. One problem I ran across though is a lack of texture. I can only find the square etched and flat plastic card locally. I hope paint will fix it, but to be honest im only a mediocre painter.

Thank you for the kind words. I have to say I pulled inspiration from recalcitrant daze and irondog studios.

On a side note does anyone know if the new IG track guards fit on the older chimera body? I could pull those "square" ones off and replace them

I found some diamond plate on E-bay. It's also called checker plate.

The old chimera looks to be the same size as the new - so I should think the new track guards fit. You can also take small bits of plasticard (or big ones) and chew them up a little to look battered, dented, and generally like scrap sheets that have been thrown on.
