I am pouring a water feature on my game table. It is .8" deep. Anyone who has worked with this stuff can you give me advice on heating up five bags. Should I use one pot or two and split it up? Does this stuff burn? Any constructive advice would be appreciated. Thanks

All I can say is that when I was looking into water effects the biggest advice I was given on EZ water was VENTILATION! Apparently it's fumes are bad, and don't ever plan on using the pot you heated it in ever again. Slow, steady pours. That's all I got

Any two part epoxy resin will off gas like nobodies business. It may not smell but the fumes are VERY VERY bad for you. I work with it on a daily basis and wear a respirator/put a fan on/open all the windows or do it outside.

Best to do multiple small pours and it will destroy your pot. So thrift store it up. Also very important is to make sure your table is level.

Do you already have the stuff in hand? My personal recommendation is to buy some of the liquid stuff that is ready to pour out of the bottle...it's infinitely easier to work with.

Yes, the other stuff does burn, and it pops like a bag of Orville Redenbacher's if you don't cover it, you'll have bits of molten plastic flying all over the place.

The liquid stuff can be dyed more easily, shaped, looks just as convincing, and can't burn you. It's more expensive by volume, but worth it in my opinion.

If you MUST use the pellets, cover them up, use a crappy pan that you don't care about, and be careful with dyes...look up ones that will work with your product because not everything will. I made that mistake once and wound up with a bunch of burnt pigment in my water

I second this very strongly.

EZ Water is just a huge pain in the ass to deal with. Besides the issues already mentioned here, it's also prone to melting or warping whatever terrain-oriented receptacle you're pouring it into. It can burn/warp/flake your paintjob. Don't even think of pouring it into a piece of terrain made out of any sort of foam, because it will almost certainly ruin it.

If the concavity in your terrain is formed from something like MDF, wood, etc. you might be alright, but like I said it could still mess up the base paint work. If you have no other recourse but to use the EZ Water product, then make certain to complete the project in multiple small pours, rather than one big superheated mess.

Edit: When I say "small pour" I'm talking like 1/4 of the bag. Assuming it comes in the same sized bags I used in the past. Just be patient and do multiple rounds of heating, pouring, and waiting, even though it's tempting to try and get it all done in one go.

I picked up a bag in a sale in impulse and have a few tings planned for it. However If I made a batch up but didn't use it all and left it to cool in the pan could you reheat that and/or add for pellets to the existing pot of material.

Also; Can you pour a fresh layer on an old one or will the heat of the new cause problems with the exiting layer?
