Shangri-La

I am looking to start a dark eldar army. Mostly for modeling and painting. I have no to very little intention of playing 40k. I remember this range being one of the worst finecast ranges. While I somewhat trust the new models to be ok quality, idk if I should trust this range still. I was wondering if its the molds that still have problems or if it has calmed down?

Essentially I found a good "used" vendor selling a bunch of DE finecast in unopened boxes/blisters. Ill be unlikely to return this purchase, so I'm really hesitant. Should I pass and buy my finecrap DE from vendors at full price just to make sure I can return broken peices/bad castings?

GW support doesn't care where you bought your model.

If you feel comfortable with that seller then buy from them. If there is a problem with the model, call GW and they will help you.

Personally, I don't buy finecast unless I can see the package before opening it up. That said, as much as I don't like metal I tend to pick up a metal version unless I simply can't find it. It seems like the newer finecast stuff is better quality but if its an older mold that was transferred to finecast then there are still some issues.

The main issue i have is that I don't really like the transportability of finecast. They break way too easily no matter how well they are packed. That may not be a concern for you.

You can just call GW and they will replace any miscast finecast pieces, free of charge. Just takes a 2 minutes phone call.

My DE finecast models have been ok.

Only problems I've had were bendy swords. Those can be fixed easily with hot water.

Regardless of the cast, all finecast spikes and rapiers will break off soon.
