Im starting an iron hands army finally and have always loved the bionics on them. After looking at the GW upgrade kit for them my response to that kit was.... meh. Like I normally do after the GW kit doesnt interest me I went over to forgeworld looking for something better but still didnt really find anything that clicked with me.

So my question is does anybody know any 3rd party company's that make bionics that would fit on space marines without heavy modification? Im mostly looking for legs, arms and faces mostly. The bolter and shoulder pads I can do on my own.

They are a bit smaller than GW arms and legs but everything fits on them fine.

I'd say buy an xacto knife and some plasticard and make your own. It will be futzy, especially if you have no experience, but you get three benefits:

1.) you'll have an excuse to learn how to use plasticard.

2.) when you get better, you'll be able to make bionics exactly how you want them to look.

3.) it's going to be MUCH cheaper than buying them, especially over the scale of an entire army.

Well a Dread is already pretty much 100% bionics.

For terminators you could do some head swaps that have more bionics but otherwise other bionics would look out of place.

That is a very good point, I have seen some really good bionics done up. It would be my first go around with plastacard tho (im still getting my sculpting with green stuff down) Ive also head guitar string is a great friend to make when making cabling. Do you know any tutorials?

Yeah, guitar wire works as well, but it's also a lot harder to work with than you initially think.

I'm sure you can find some tutorials out there, but a lot of the skills you need like how to handle the knife with styrene and the spacial reasoning and sense of scale skills aren't ones that can really be taught with a youtube video.

Probably the best thing to do is to just start doing it. You'll make a dozen attempts that look awful that you'll just throw away (all you're really losing is time, though), until you start getting ones you like.
