So my flgs is haveing a tournament. It is all about kill points. Each unit type is assigned a point amount. Example, hq is 25 points and troops are 5and so on.well it is also limited to 6 rounds or till 1 hour has elapsed and the person with the most points wins. Now i have no illusions that im going to win this thing but i plan on playing a different strategy then most use in my local meta.

DA LIST

Hq. Warboss stock - 60pts

Troops. Shoota boys 2x30 - 360 pts

Grots x20 - 80pts

Fortification. Fortress of redemption with missle silo- 250 pts

Grand total- 750 pts

My strategy is simple deny my opponent kill points. I will set up the for as i see fit. Stick the grtechin in it to fire its guns due to their better bs.and camp the boys behind and try to hold out till the hour elapses and hopefully either the iccarus cannon or missles get me some kill points. Im sure many will agree that this is not the true way to play orks or whatever but i think it will be worth it to see the look on my opponents face when they see the orcs have taken up turtleing tactics.just wondering if dakka had anythoughts or have encountered anything simular?

If you want a stock warboss you are better of taking a stock big mek thats even cheaper. To use points elsewhere... As for the fort.

I hope you orkyfied it!

Looks like a pretty lame way to play. I can understand KP denial but playing down the clock is a dick move.

That said, if you really wanna go that round, take a forcefield Mek instead of that warboss to make your FoR have a 5+ cover save (I *think*, might pay to double check this). Then cut a unit of boys so you have less KP to hand over. Then fill the fort with Lootas, because I'm pretty sure that it has space for multiple units and Lootas are shooty as hell.

Another way to play this though would be to take a Bikerboss and Nob Bikers. One of the strongest, fastest, choppy-est, and most durable units in the game as *troops* so its only worth 5 KP...
