Is it just me or is Smite awesome for killing Tau suits and sm terminators? I mean assault 4 attacks with ap2?

Correct me if I am missing something here but this skill looks quite useful.

You will be hitting on 3s and wounding on 4s. Average I think?

And its only 12inches or 18inches range.

I guess its the ap2 that caught my eye. I mean thats an unsaved wound on broadside battlesuits and tactical termies.

6+ Deny the Witch, then roll to hit, then you're 50/50 to wound, and then they might get cover saves or invulnerables...Witchfire powers need to be bonkers good to be worth all the potential points of failure, and very few of them are.

Fair point I am prolly better sticking to null zone and force dome.

Your right about all the saves. I dunno bout you but what really does my head in is Feel no Pain, seems like every army I come up against has this now

If you roll them.

A level 2 Librarian is cheaper than a level one now though, which is good. Should be able to roll up a good power at least.

I'm afraid you're looking at the old codex. There is, tragically, no such thing as Null Zone in 40k any longer.

It's the DtW that brings that power down unfortunately. I like Smite and Vortex of Doom on my GK Librarian, but I've gone away from a lot of Psychic shooting attacks just because it sucks passing a test, hitting, wounding, and THEN getting it denied at random.

DtW happens right after you've passed your psychic test and you declare a target. Not after scattering and wounding.

To be honest, it's a nice power that can net you a few extra kills over a game, which is always good, and Biomany is a good table to roll on anyway, as Iron Arm, Endurance and Enfeeble are all good. Another good one (especially as a second power) is the pyromancy primaris, as a free HF is nice when coming out of a Drop pod and combined with a combi-flamer and flamer. It also means you get around the first-turn uselessness of a DP libby with just maledictions and blessings, as you can still cast in the shooting phase.

I'm pretty sure you cant do this because the libby is not present at the start of movement phase, and therefore has no warp charges available for the shooting attack after the DP arrives

The BRB says that a psyker 'generates his allocation of warp charges at the beginning of the turn' and then goes on to state 'this happens automatically', and does not stipulate that the psyker needs to be on the table for this to take effect. You may be confusing this with the ruling on blessings/maledictions, which must be cast at the start of the turn, therefore cannot work with Drop pods. As far as I can see, there is no restriction on using a Psychic Shooting attack after arriving from reserves.

makes sense
I would normally take div/prescience with libbys so drop podding them with squads wasn't ever a viable tactic for me

Aha, I can see where the confusion came from then.

As I mentioned before, that's why I like Level 2 if I have the points on my DA libby, so that I can still get some use out of him on the first turn with the pod by using smite or the pyro primaris, and always have that option for more shooting along with prescience should I need it. Actually, smite+prescience works well, as you are looking at at least 3 likely hits.

I quite like the telepathy primaris and the rest of telepathy really. None of the telekenesis powers really appealed to me and the biomancy ones seem to focus a lot buffing the psyker himself, which really isn't that impressive on our librarian.

I don't like librarians in particular. End of Season 5... oops too much League of Legends in my head right now... end of 5th ed and early 6th ed librarians were very popular for SM. Now chaptermasters and captains seem to reign supreme with better infantry units for them to lead. Oh and relics.

Librarian is just old school now.

Captains and chapter masters are the beatsticks now, but a mastery 2 librarian for 90 points? Everyone can find room to toss one of those guys out, just for the buffs/debuffs you can spread around, not his personal offensive capability.

I think the thing here is not that libbys got worse, but that captain and CM (mostly CM) got much better. Libbys are just as good as they always were, apart from the inevitable loss of reliably chosen codex powers, but now you can get a level one for dirt cheap, or a level 2 for cheaper than a level one used to be. They are great for games below around 1200 points where you simply cannot afford to drop 150+ on a kitted-out CC beatstick. The fact that captains and CM gained utility is great, but the libby is still the cheapest option, and possibly the best force multiplier with the right powers. Also, don't forget that libbys can take relics too, for a bit more punch if you have the points. You could swap the bolt pistol for Teeth of Terra, allowing you a bunch of S6 AP3 attacks for mincing grunts, and still keep the force weapon for multi-wound stuff. Not too expensive, actually, and makes the libby good in combat against multiple target types as well as buffing the surrounding troops.
