Hi guys,
I don't play tau, and I know very little about FW rules or which book does which, but in a recent game my opponent was playing a squadron of 3 Heavy gun drones, When I charged a unit near them, we weren't sure whether or not they had the supporting fire rule. On the printout he had they didn't, but it might have been FAQ'd since. Can anyone clear this up for us?

We played it as though they did, because his argument was that all other drones get the rule so it makes sense that they do too.

Thanks!

If they dont have the rule in the rules he has with him, they dont have it.

As far as i can see in the vehicle update the only drones that were erratad were the Remoras. And they dont have supporting fire either. No other faq that im aware of gives them supporting fire.

Its always the same argument. If someone wants to use a rule he has to have something official that says he can use it. If he uses a unit that is outdated and did not search for faqs himself to use the rule than its his problem and he cant use the rule even if it exists.

Thanks for the response,

That was my stance on it, too, but because he said he would argue the point, and I wanted an easy life at the time of the game, I figured I'd let him have it. Next time though, I will put my foot down :p

Always a good way to handle such disputes. If he is a nice guy and the game is fun and a friendly anyway - why bother? But the next time you play him he*d have to either present an official errata that he can use it or i wouldnt allow it. In a tournament you'd obviously ask the TO.

The most recent update on Tau is the second edition of Imperial Armour 3. That's the information to look for.

Tau and Space Wolves since 5th Edition.
