Ok i'm getting a kindle to make use of the generic ebooks that gw put out among other stuff. It says it's available in .mobi and .epub files. Now i was reading through the kindle and it says it supports unprotected .mobi files i'm just worried that if i download one or the other it would be wasted because i wouldn't put it past gw to sell protected files.

There are a ton of ebook converters out there. I have like 3 on my computer that have handled anything and everything I've thrown at them - just about all formats over the years.
